Hey Pittsburgers. I'll be in the Three City Rivers this Friday 8/26/2016, from about 11am until 2:07pm. I'm looking for a lunch spot to take a business client associate to. Looking for something in the $-$$/$$$$ range, but here's the kicker- it needs to serve Draft Beer. Preferably locale breweries, so I can absorb the city's taste. Also, not looking to go on the "Sah Side":D:rolleyes:;) as yinz would say. Suggestions appreciated. Also as it draws more near, I will return to this forum to post an inquiry for Bottle shops which are best in the city.

tldr- need a new non-southside lunch rec w/ beers for friday. srs.

Meat and Potatoes has a localish draft list and is open for lunch for a few more weeks. I would just drink Old Fashioneds and eat too much though.

Proper always seems to have a lot of local taps. Not sure of their hours, but Smallman Galley is another great option.

It's all that they have on right now. They got wiped out over the weekend and are trying to catch up. It turns out that people actually read Paste after all.
Not trying to drag Paste article back into conversation, but my wife said that someone at her work randomly brought up in a group conversation and asked if they had seen the "top beer" article where a Pgh brewery named Brew Gentlemen took second. I thought it was interesting because the demographic there is definitely not one of beer geeks.

BA Manhattan is way better

Best cocktail in the city. I've finally nailed down the recipe at home.

BA Manhattan is way better

Also ISO. One of my favorites in Pittsburgh.

2 parts bourbon
1 part BPT syrup
2 healthy dashes Fee Bros. BA Bitters
2 slices of lemon rind: one snapped and stirred into the drink, one rubbed over the rim of your glass
1 big ass ice cube

  • M&P uses Bulleit but I never bother making cocktails with anything under 100 proof, most BiB's are perfect for this. EW White Label is my go to
  • BPT Syrup: make simple syrup but steep 2 sprigs thyme and 10-12 black peppercorns for 10-15min
  • The bitters are the key ingredient, don't skimp
  • You want the drink cold but not watered down, chill your glass beforehand
  • No cherries or orange under any circumstances

Looks like Smallman opens at 11, that was going to be my suggestion as well. Only negative experience I've ever had there was at a happy hour when it was 95 degrees out and they refused to shut the window/doors and turn on AC. Brutal.

Dude no one reads Paste, has ever heard of Paste or has any idea what Paste is.

Cool, just grabbed a bottle of EW White yesterday. Currently on sale!
What's BPT syrup?

Throw the Tangiers in the trash, then 28, BN, 2013 2014.

Tangier

We said **** it and poured em all at once. Finished of the Blacknote 14 first. Then the BCBS 2013. Then the Butte 28. Then the BCBS 2014. All very tasty brews but I though the BCBS 14 was the jam&jelly. Skipped the Tangier and crushed a bag of these instead:
