Yeah, I probably should have said that I don't enjoy Roundabout as much as the other two rather than wording it as a step down to avoid any negative connotation. I enjoy Roundabout a lot and would include as one of the best in Pittsburgh, but I just that I don't find myself going there as often as I used to.

I read ya, "step down" just hit my ears wrong

Definitely a preference thing. Roundabout does lagers and low ABV stuff really well even if they aren't olfactory overload. I'll drink Hyer-PA over most anything. But he never seems to do bigger beers which is a bummer as I think he'd do an awesome imperial stout. Full line up vs. full line up though, I'll usually go to BG before Roundabout. Still like Roundabout a lot though.

I actually like Roundabout for that reason. Most of the beers are mid level abv and they usually make stouts I actually want to drink( I agree he'd make a killer Imperial stout). I kind of wish Voodoo would do the opposite of the huge double Ipa's and make one regular under 7% Ipa offering other than their rotating single hop beers. A 5% version of H2P would be amazing.

I honestly never thought of myself as someone who would care about the environment inside of a brewery/brew pub until I went to Roundabout. The bar area itself is so dark and sterile and parking is terrible there. Going there always feels like a massive chore and I never feel that way about any of the spots that I frequent.

Not trying to be negative, by the way. Hopefully that can be seen as constructive criticism.

FWIW I enjoy Roundabout and like the communal tables if you get some cool folks near you to hang out with. I do not make it there often because of distance, but (it all goes back to kids) with our zoo membership I find it easy to convince the wife to stop by for growlers afterwards.

I definitely appreciate and have a soft spot for a lot of the low abv, standard beers: porters, browns, ESB, lagers, pale ales, etc. Zero Gravity in Burlington and Civil Life in St. Louis come to mind as great examples of breweries that make these styles their bread and butter, but do a great job. But I just haven't found any of Roundabout's to really incite those nostalgic "warm fuzzies" for me personally.
And agree on the tap room vibe.

I hear a lot of people say it's sterile there. I can see that. I thought the same thing when I first went. I kind of like it now though. Also pretty nice to hang outside in the summer now that there are picnic tables there. I've never had an issue with parking though. If there is none on the street it's on I usually circle around back to penn and park there.

The outside tables have been a big upgrade there in the warm months. I'm not a huge fan of the inside space either but there isn't much you can do with roughly 500 sq ft. LV real estate ain't cheap.

Completely agree. For me, the sweet spot with hoppy stuff is between 6 and 6.5%. I can drink a lot of it, the grain bill doesn't get in the way, and they are less often sweet.

And you let us know when you even get to practice with the team.
Is this a yinzer thing? Why is it that when somebody has a differing opinion the goto is that they need to open a brewery? At least you didn't go with a gif so good on you I guess.

I'd be excited if you didn't call it PUMPKING as it's called PUMKING

Good god, man. Get ahold of yourself.
Is anyone else excited for PUMPKING?!

<---- THIS GUY IS!!!!!
Pumpking sounds like some craft beer themed seasonal Porn. New releases every year that no one wants and each one is shorter than the last one due to the guy coming earlier and earlier with each release.
