Never heard of the beer from the description reads like a collab between Carton and Green Flash/Alpine. It's not clear though.

And when it's Green Flash, you know they will ruin it like they ruined my dear, dear Nelson IPA.

Goodnight, Sweet Prince.
I don't mind Nelson by them. I only had the original once though and didn't remember loving it really. Everything green flash makes has a very distinct mouthfeel that I can't describe but I don't like it. I think it may have to do with their water treatment but I'm not sure.

I've never had the original Nelson, but I'm a big fan of the Green Flash version and would place it above the majority of shelf beers that we see in Pittsburgh. I feel like Alpine's IPAs were/are big influences, as lmost every head brewer nowadays references Alpine and Russian River as the reason they fell in love with hoppy beers.

Yeah I tend to try not to compare beers to how they were once they are scaled up. Especially at the size they are now. Also with hops being drastically different from year to year/crop to crop it's pretty much impossible to make something taste the exact same. Going off memory Alpines version had a much different/creamier mouth feel and you got a lot more white wine grape and gooseberry from the nelson hops. Green flashes version is a lot thinner and gets some diesel/plastic notes from the nelson that I'm not a fan of. That could very well have to do with the fact they used to be able to get a specific lot of Nelson and now they probably pretty much take what they can get to brew it at that size. They do get very close to the original though.

I haven't had Nelson in a while, as I see Duet around a lot more, but the bolded is what I feel like most Green Flash beers I've had tasted like. I don't order their beers often, but occasionally they are the $5 beer at Mad Mex and they are seemingly on the beer list of a lot of Pittsburgh's upscale restaurants, so I've ordered them on that occasion. I wouldn't be upset if I never had anything again from them though.

From Insurrection's FB page:

Matt filling our Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels that held Maple Syrup for 1 year with a new imperial stout that was conditioned on top of coffee from Allegheny Coffee & Tea Exchange (located in the 'Strip) and Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla beans. This is Matt's brain child.

67% of those breweries in that collaboration are great.

Unfortunately, there is a 100% chance that the beer will be forgettable.

Have the Carton edition sitting in my fridge. I like Maibocks though, so I'm looking forward to it.
I think right around the time GF started rebranding their labels, I lost almost all interest in them. That unblended Silva Stout at battle of the barrels though... That was good.

I'm sure it'll be fine. But maybe rather than buying meteors and custom tongs for this he should save that money so he can pay his brew staff above minimum wage. Maybe then they would retain some talent and the beer wouldn't jump all over the place quality wise. Make Thunderhop great again!

Yea saw a job posting for a "cellarman" at church a many months ago. The pay was ~$8.25/hr. Full time, and they wanted multiple years working at a production brewery. In real life, who has the ability as an adult who's worked multiple years in the production brewery setting, to work 40hrs/wk for $8.25/hr? Someone who lives and eats for free maybe? Mostly a rhetorical
question. But wtf is this guy going around buying 500yr old chinese meteorites for. Gee whiz.

Don't talk about my job like that I also work part time at little Ceasers

BA Sunny Side up on sale today at Pizza Boy. Will also be on tap next Friday at Caliente. Seems like a good time as any to make my annual "Go to Caliente For a Beer Event and Feel like **** The Next Morning When You Realize You Spent $50 on 4 Beers" trip.

Definitely putting this on the list. Normal SSU is one of my fav coffee stouts easily

Not nearly as bad as when you pull a receipt out of your wallet from Side Project that's $100 with only two items listed...

Same. If this was a day I had off work, I would 100% be making the trip.

Have you seen the Westbrook menu for their Mexican Cakes? They still have the 2013 variants (Red Wine, Jack Daniel's, Apple Brandy), but each beer has a menu price of like $350.

I always wondered what the proper etiquette is when it comes to tipping when purchasing big bottles like this.

Here's a tip don't spend that much money on beer.

Guess if you're throwing 350 down on a--what was retail originally, like $20-25, smacking down another twenty isn't a big deal.

You talking as part of a meal or as a stand alone purchase? If it's part of a meal, I'm tipping on the rest. If I'm jonesing hard AF for this beer and taking it to go, then I'm leaving sans tip. Doesn't take that much additional effort to grab this as opposed to a shelf beer. How far's their cellar--twelve steps down and back?

Is that protocol to do what MDH20 did and break them out of 4pks at an upcharge? I think the guys said it was $9 for two cans.......

While Randy'll obviously settle it, my suspicion is that it might be based upon individual store availability? I see GEMDSH do this with some of the limited availability beers--other GEs have more for less, but they may be forced to upcharge for fewer. Which sucks, kinda would like to have equity with that *****.

Sunday we are releasing 'Agrio' a Margarita style Gose with Agave, Strawberry, Lime Peel, and Sea Salt.

Notes of old man taint, dried dog turd, moldy heirloom artisan hand crafted free range non gmo breads, and black bean farts.

See, you had me at old man taint... But then you lost me at black bean farts.
