surprised that Trey wasn't brought up in the Mayer talk. Never seen Mayer, but apparently will be seeing him this summer. I'm trying to go into it with a neutral pallet.

visited SARA today. holy **** is it a PITA to get there... if u are one of those ******* in the north hills who can't brave the trek to spoonwood, just resign to the truth that u'll never experience this place.

everything was pretty OK to almost exceptional to exceptional. i left with a growler of their "oatmeal ipa" aka haze bomb since i've been going through brewgentlemen withdrawal (BG hoppy stuff is better FYI). missed bottles of west ashley by a day :/ (but i texted my new uber driver friend ({see other post about 5-10 pages ago for back-story}), and he said he has some, so maybe i will get to taste it!:):):):))

snagged (read: purchased) 3 bottles each of lady in grey and farmhouse noir that i * look forward to * sharing with u fgts in a couple weeks.

Clearly you must not have seen Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, barflybastard
Or perhaps we should call you Magnolia Fan??

Did you not realize Baffleck was credited with not 1, but 2 roles for that film? Not an easy task.

He definitely benefits when luxuriating in the shadows of Smith's greatness--but any competence Affleck portrays in these works is solely a product of that proximity. Flaws hidden in dialogue, his innate weakness is on display when he slips into monologues (like in Chasing Amy) or asked to carry a picture. If you sprinkle small amount of Thomas Kinkade into a large van Gogh, most viewers would get caught up in the larger piece and enjoy without much interruption. When he's asked to stand alone, he's a toilet.

Batman v. Superman wasn't awful, but it's not a serious flick--just 220 minutes of Batmask voice synthesizing, explosions and punching. Is Affleck even in the film, save the small Jeep car chase scene? And that was still all explosions and a little bit of furrowed brow.

Could he have pulled off American Psycho--or ****, even Jason Bourne?

Thanks, man. That & posting cat gifs are my only marketable skills. Can you tell me if Cherry Quadzilla has any fruit in it?

Upon reflection (and framing it as an answer involving cats), maybe the Cherry Quadzilla has simultaneously too much and too little cherry, but once tasted you only perceive one state. The Schrodingers Cat of the beer world.

Is it like getting to Hill Farmstead or more difficult to get to then that? I know that I'm making a giant assumption you have been to HF, but I'm betting you have.

I had green flash's lustrous fermento at the whole foods pub last night during the righteous pens game (**** you, Lundqvist) - is this the same beer randy had for BoB? If so, it's really under the radar, as it's been on at whole foods for almost a week. I'd confidently say it could stand up to (non-infected) BCBCS.

I almost forgot that it was PCBW until I opened up twitter this morning. Oops.....

I didn't hear much about the collab beers. Was there a consensus winner among them?

Per a Caliente event, why aren't they telling us what they are putting on tap? Is it a blind tasting (that would actually be kinda cool:

Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week Head Quarters Event:
Join Us for 2 Awesome Flights of IPA's. One from some of the East Coast's best brewery's and the 2nd flight from some of the West Coast's best brewery's. Vote on your favorite Flight from one of the Coasts and we will crown a winner.

I haven't had them all, but greenfield bridge and the s'mores one were good to very good. S'mores must be difficult to tackle when designing a beer and I thought the end product was a nice representation, it finished very smokey. I wasn't a huge fan of the hop farm/caliente saison, but it wasn't a bad beer by any means.

Greg's pretty much got it. Greenfield Bridge is a style that's hot right now & was well/executed, & S'mores is fun & accessible & also well-done - it's got the same kind of appeal as, like, Sweet Baby Jesus, I'd say, so plenty of folks are going for that. Prosper o's a little more experimental, but I've heard good things, & Passionate Embrace people seem to like too. Haven't really heard much about Plum Puckered or Hipster.

Could you taste all the flavors in the S'mores? I do appreciate when breweries try different flavors and actually pull them off. SBJ to me isn't a good example of pulling off the flavors because it ends up with that metallic taste that overwhelms the beer. Rochester Mills Blueberry Pancake was also a messy pile of disgusting.

Examples of beers (imho) that have hit the nail on the head when trying recreate a food flavor:
Pigeon Hill - Oatmeal Cream Pie
Pigeon Hill - French Toast
Terrapin - Cinnamon Rolled W'n'B
Saugatuck - BA Neopolitan Stout (the regular version seems strawberry heavy and the other flavors are very faint)

I can't say all the flavors "popped" or were super expressive, but I definitely got an overall impression of chocolate, marshmellows, graham, roast. I might be totally wrong on this, but I think they achieved this all through malt, without actually using those ingredients, which, if that's the case, I find extra-cool. Maybe ChurchBrewCrew could shed light?

Hey guys, thanks to whoever has tried our collaboration beer so far this year. We hope you enjoyed it. It is actually now our top rated beer among the unwashed masses (Untappd) so that's something.

You're Killing Me, S'mores! was brewed with All Saints, ShuBrew, and Mindful. We were approaching it as a s'mores inspired Imperial Porter and we wanted to avoid devolving into just adding artificial flavors or flavor extracts. We did however use some adjuncts. So we used Briess CaraBrown malt to approximate the graham, then we used a small amount of smoked malts (Weyermann's Beech Barley and Oak Wheat) for the campfire, we used Crisp Pale Chocolate malt and aged the finished beer on cacao nibs for the milk chocolate, and finally we used lactose and vanilla bean to emulate the 'mallow.

It is 9% and definitely a sweet beer, but not overly so at least in our opinion.

I think all of us are very happy with the end result, but if I'm not picking our own, I think Greenfield Bridge is the top collab of PCBW this year, although there are a couple I haven't had yet.

Edit: Forgot to add that 4 bourbon barrels are getting filled with s'mores beer to sit for a year, if they're good to go, hopefully they'll come out next year for PCBW.

Anyone want to bring a growler of it to Meadville?
