I've had really good experiences with Safale US-05 recently, so I have some extra Mr. Beer yeast that I don't really plan to use. I think I'll be buying better yeast for all future batches depending on style of beer.

I remember someone talking about pitching extra yeast into a hot wort that will kill the yeast so that the real yeast can use their nutrients.

A) Does this actually work?

B) Is there a best temperature to pitch the extra yeast at, so that it kills the yeast but leaves the nutrients intact?

I've used Safale US-05 twice now and had signs of fermentation within 8 hours each time. Those lil guys are champs. My next batch is gonna be with the Saflager (not sure which one, thats at home)
