I'd say they're closer to being ProtoBeer than NeoBeer. I'd say the Neobeerians would have to be the BMC drinkers.

Now as for the MetaBeerians, who knows?
ok I like Protobeer better then neobeer anyway . . . (was a weak attempt at a relation to the neocons since I couldnt think of a liberal counterpart . . . unless you want to use Moveon.beer?

CAMRA folks will have to be the minuteman types. When the rest of us are sleeping off a bender they will await in the shadows to pounce on unsuspecting whinos and BMC'rs.

Agreed, the wheaties are going to have to petition for special citizenship. They will have to face a Beer Party tribunal and swear to keep their fruity ways to only 20% volume of their brewing.

Hopheds (thanks, pumbaa) are going to have to be monitored, too, though. They are to be labeled 'most likely to seced'. We've got our eye on you dryhoppers.

ok we'll let ya slide but we got our eye on you . . . You BI-swiller
(hard booze is ok, it's like the kinky end of things)

that reminds me, we should come up with some snazzy uniforms so we can stand out in our efforts for world domination
maybe wear my avatar as an armband . . .

I think one-piece jumpsuits would be the ticket. Not sure on color, but maybe a lighter SRM, say 5.5, for the summer and a 20ish one for winter?

actually I was thinking like Carheart pants with T-shirts that ever so slightly showed our beerbellies and more of a SRM of 40sih . . . maybe we could wear ballcaps with a little sprig of barley surrounding a hops flower on them . . . mesh backs of course . . . and gonna have to have some heavy duty boots for stomping the wine kegs

Jumpsuits would be a great idea. We would definatley need refridgerated tool belts with hops, yeast, malt etc and a mini burner. For when we need to brew "on the go" We could also spend copious amounts of money developing beerichles, which would be our main source of transport, using wine for power, seeing that wine allready tastes like petrol.

And secondly, when you were all talking about us crazy aussies, you forgot the 6.5-8m salt water crocks that can eat you whole and in some cities live in the rivers... fair dinkum

... I'll specify either two fingers or three, neat. If the bartender has a large fat hand with big fingers, I'll specify two fingers. If he has a small hand or skinny fingers, then it's three.

SLAM!!! That's the best Orpheus 'dis I've seen in months. Though I'm starting to wonder why it always works, when said 'dis recipient is the only one counterpointing a recent rash of fat, naked men in places over the hills and far away.

Since I have started brewing I haven't been without an IPA.

Hopheads get green shirts and you other guys get orange shirts and we'll have at it and see who comes out on top. :tank:

See that right there is why Hopheds need to be left out . . . no worries we'll get our CAMRA guy on him :D

Let's keep at it - the thread got upgraded to two stars!!!!!!!! w000h00000!!!! ;)

I'm telling you, the hophed natives are bound to get restless. There are never satisfied, they always want more.

As a bartender, I can't say I'm sympathetic to the original way the situation was handled at all. A couple things: probably the waitress doesn't really do the math thing, and it WAS the special Stella Artois glass, so they probably figured it was the "standard" size, whatever that is. People get sloppy with their language, and start calling things the wrong name, hence the usage of the word pint as a generic term for anything in a glass. Also, a regular pint glass, when filled to the top with a normal-sized head of beer, is only ~13.8 ounces of beer! There are ~2.2 liquid ounces worth of foam at the top, which dissipates to nothing after a few minutes. Are we all demanding top-offs for our beers from now on?

I think you were too hostile about things, and that kind of attitude doesn't make people want to help you very much. They fixed the sign, and the girl was just doing her job. Not tipping was totally obnoxious in my opinion. Sorry to stir this up, but I just got around to reading this thread, and that really upsets me. It's unfair to take it out on the staff! :(

I'm with you, torch. more importantly, however, how long is your hog in centimeters? you preference in SRM for Beer Part uniforms? your thoughts on blair hair products? your opinion of shrubs? do you agree that wheaties should be only allowed into the party with checks and balances in place? we are covering lots of important ground here. ;)

The units of measure used by the world seem too arbitrary to me. I think as a party we need to establish a more brew friendly units of measure.

I propose that our temperature scale be based on the yeast scale. 0 degrees is lagering temperature and 100 degrees for ale pitching temperature.

We need to establish more for weights and distance.

The point is that Fahrenheit uses as its scale what one might expect the normal range of ambient temperature to be in a temperate climate... So that on most days the temperature falls somewhere between the zero point and the one hundred point, compared something along the lines of minus fifteen and forty.

That's the best logic you can present? I can only suggest that you broaden your horizons a little.

There's plenty of places (including the US) where the temperature goes above and below the zero point on the F scale on a given day.

OH! Now I see how bizarre this thread is. I stopped reading halfway through, right before it veered wildly off topic. ;)

As for Fahrenheit, I can't speak to the actual range of numbers, but as for the value of a degree, there's this: one degree on the Fahrenheit scale is the smallest difference in temperature that is perceptable to the human senses. So it does make some sense.

EDIT: Now, for the rest of the subjects:

  • 20cm hog
  • heat-sensitive jumpsuits that change color, with a special zipper in the back for Orpheus
  • I didn't enjoy the Blair Witch Project, it made me sick
  • I'd like ANOTHER SHRUBBERY! A little shorter, though, so you get a nice two-level effect
  • I like IPAs and Wheat beers, but I prefer the dark side
