This might be a silly question, but I'll ask anyway: what's the "shelf life" of a can/bottle of Pilsner? I'm under the impression that Pilsner is more like a saison, and less like an IPA with regard to how quickly it should be consumed. That said, I've had saisons with 3+ years on them. I know there's no right answer here, but any thoughts?

I've heard within four to six months, ideally. Oxidative character doesn't do any favors to pilsner/lagers. I'm sure there are exceptions, but especially if it's a hoppy pils, the fresher the better.

Was gonna say the same. Some labels say 9-12 months but one of the Budweiser* guys told me he likes to drink it between 2-5 months.

edit: *Czech Budweiser

Can you send me a handbottle / howler / growler of that so I can finally get that tick.

I can send you a growler from moonlight that will probably have a better fill than I could do at an undisclosed park in Novato. Hit me with them deets and ill fire off next monday?

My pal from Henhouse grabbed a few sixtels from there and is bringing his jockey box too. Gonna be living that ultra luxurious co2 lifestyle tomorrow. I wonder what Sunday brunch is like in jail?

Reported, too sexy

Brewer's Art is hit or (mostly) miss, but I'm digging this. Has a touch of their "house" character, but a solid Czech-style Pils.

Or maybe I just like it because I'm telling myself they brewed it to commemorate the back-to-back Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins.
