I have had 1 for about a year now. I have tried oxyclean, Dawn, & bleach. Did lengthy soaks (2 - 3 days), for each, still smells like pickles. The bleach did the best job. The bucket has been sitting open for a couple months now, the smell is faint, but still there.
 
I say just go with it and make a dill pickle ipa.

(I think I threw up in my mouth a little...)
 
I got three of these when I asked for some buckets at the cafeteria. I use one as my compost bucket under my sink and the other two are used in the garden. Won't go near them for brewing.
