I'm interested to see if the keg/bottle allocations to bars change at all since most of the good ones don't have much from the origlio portfolio anymore.

A couple of interesting things will come of this.
  1. What is Bella Vista itself going to become? It's across the street from Hawthornes, a shop owned by the family even if it's a wink / wink situation.
  2. What about the bars Jordan Fetfatzes has invested in? They've always denied it but they definitely got a better allocation of rarer stuff from the Bella Vista portfolio. Will those be better spread out or will we just see the same occur but from the Origlio side?
  3. Will we see brands dropped from Origlio or just neglected? Given what a **** sandwich small breweries seem to get from distributor contracts, I expect the latter because why would Origlio give up contracts, but who knows.
  4. Will all the breweries be happy with this sale? NCBC claims to be happy but they are growing steadily.
I guess we'll see how things shake up but it does explain why the selection was so ****** the last time I was in Bella Vista. In fact, the selection at a bunch of distributors I go to in Philly has gotten shittier over the last 6 months. Very disappointing.

I think Bella's accounts were complaining they keep all the good stuff which would explain the awful selection at their actual distributor.

Like personally keep all the good stuff instead of selling it to customers? I dunno, I always felt their selection wasn't too bad and the prices, while they used to be absolutely terrible, got better over the past few years. The prices on their own brands were always the best in the area (reasonably enough.) I know people hated them, though.

of course the prices on their brands was the best, they were taking a whole tier out of the process.

More like if they got 4 cases of bourbon barrel biscotti break 3 would be sold on their floor and only one sent out to their customers (obviously a few more cases in play but that's the gist of what I heard)

Oh yeah I guess as a bar or bottle shop that would be annoying but as a customer of the distributor, I'd much rather see that since bottle shop prices are horrendous.

1. Just a distributor I suppose. An overpriced one at that.
2. They won't get the hookup they used to get I'd imagine. That being said, There are some solid relationships that have been built on a personal level such as Cambridge and Half Acre's. My hope is that once the loopholes have closed, other bars will finally see some rarer kegs from Perennial, Cigar City, etc.
3. I assume they'll just sell some contracts or stop placing orders from the small breweries that don't have good traction. Origlio mentioned opening a smaller division that will oversee separate management and development. Wait and see I guess...
4. If Origlio opens a separate division to manage these brands, I would assume the smallest brands will actually see more representation under the Origlio umbrella vs the current Bella umbrella based on Origlio's manpower/higher financial status.

I'm excited to see what happens...

I'm okay with that. Was on tap as of a week ago.

It's nominally a saison, but I got more tart berry and coffee out of it than anything else. Similar to Roy Pitz's Sour Hound, I guess, but with more nuances IMO.

cool.. i just know it's been discussed that nothing with a chance of infecting the canning line will be run through the canning line. so anything you ever want that is sourish or tart etc will be bottles or growlers for the time being.. maybe with all that $$ from their $$ tree they'll get another canning line and you'll see cans of saisons one day

No saisons in cans. Or anything else that uses their saison yeast. That's why Only Void and Coffee Only Void get canned, but Wine Only Void gets bottled.

Damn, this place gets less action than a white crayon.

Anyways Philly peeps, would anyone here recommend Root, The Dutch, or Restaurant Neuf for brunch? Going to be visiting the city of brotherly love this weekend and wanted to check out a good breakfast spot for New Year's Eve. Did some research and it looks like these places are the only ones that still have availability for Saturday.

Also, I'm ISO BCBS variants (Cherry Rye, Vanilla, Prop 13/14), so if any who reads this has any and was interested in a trade, shoot me a message.

Dutch or Neuf are solid. See if Wm. Mulherin's Sons still has availability - excellent spot. It's fairly big too so they may have tables.

This place looks amazing. The article that I read that listed the other places I mentioned said that Wm. Mulherin's only served pizza for brunch, which is why I didn't look any further into the place. It's in the same neighborhood as where I'll be staying too.

Just went last week. They have pizza for brunch (which is great), but they have a lot of other stuff too. My wife and I went last weekend and were very impressed. We'd previously been for dinner, which is even better.

I've heard it was not necessarily just one establishment.....

Why send your stuff past Nyc if the Philly bars won't treat your beer properly.

Does anyone know of any Philly area trading groups? Maybe on facebook or something? Was thinking of ideas to do an IP trade this upcoming weekend and wanted to put my post in a Philadelphia based trading group.

The hanger steak and eggs is calling my name.

The only tough part will be trying to stay sober enough to see the ball drop at midnight. Bloody marys for brunch followed by a Tired Hands visit paired with boozing during the college football playoff games and then culminating in a giant New Year's Eve party (reason why I am visiting) will probably have me passed out by 8 pm.
