Is this a pellicle or mold? This was a cucumber ferment with dried dill and garlic cloves with a 5.5% brine (I know, that's too strong). If this is mold, how do ya'll keep your herbs from floating to the top?

If it's limited to a few patches of mold you can scoop em off.
But spores will likely have spread and grow more, so probably consume your cucumbers ASAP.

BTW, cucumber spears only take a few days to be "half-done," and they're many people's favorites.

You can put your herbs in a little mesh bag with a couple glass marbles to weigh em down, or use one of those "tea balls."
Dunk (by pulling up a few inches ) once or twice a day or so.

You're keeping that jar covered with some thin muslin or fine-mesh cheesecloth, right?

And practice good sanitation throughout the process!
