Anyone recirculating PBW solution with a CIP ball system in a SS conical? If so, how much PBW per gallon of water are you using? TIA!

3/4 ounce per gallon. I put an old scoop from something in the jar years ago with 3/4 oz and 1 oz marked with a sharpe.

That sounds like the standard concentration for soaking in fermenters. I take it that's also the sweet spot for CIP recirc?

I use DIY PBW with my CIP nozzle at a rate of 1-1.5 oz. per gallon. YMMV for actual PBW.

Looking back at this post, it seems like we're communicating in using some kind of cryptologic language .

Here are the fivestar instructions:

  1. Rinse off vessel or surface to get rid of as much soil as possible.
  2. Dissolve 1-2 ounces per gallon for kettles and 3/4 ounces per gallon for fermenters, kegs, tanks, and other equipment. (May vary depending on soil load)
  3. If circulation cleaning, heat to 130°-180° F and circulate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. If soaking, heat to 140° and soak for 4 hours or allow to soak cold overnight.
  5. Rinse surface or vessel.
I am doing 30 min at 135F with about 1 ounce per gallon. I'd like to get a better CIP pump that can handle higher temps. My sump pump is rated to 120 F but 135 doesn't seem to trip it's heat sensor.

I don't let things get too far before a hot pbw clean-out, so 1 ounce per gallon holding at 150°F for 30-40 minutes has been leaving everything super clean (especially pumps and valves). I just wish it would take more of the color out of my mash recirculation hoses ;)

But...that's a brew rig, not a conical...

Cheers!
