howdy.

I read the sticky and I'm ready to try it, but a few questions....

The sticky used capped bottles, where I use corks. Will this matter or will I have to dodge flying corks?

Since a closed bottle is a closed system, pasteurization won't affect my ABV, right?

Thanks in advance

if it stays closed it will not affect it. the caps are for holding carbonated beverages. if yours are carbed then the corks may very well pop. if it's just sweetened then I would think it should work. depends how much pressure you generate.

I would be really careful with pasteurizing corked bottles (especially if they’re carbed). Capped bottles are dangerous enough (I’ve had a few blast off, shooting very hot cider everywhere). Maybe you at least want to add cages?

my cider is still and backsweetened

has anyone tried pasteurizing with a airlock? In theory this would allow gas to vent off and control liquid/alcohol loss
