Hi guys, I'm about to try my first all grain and I have a quick question. I usually brew partial mash 10 gallon. I use around 6kg of extract vs 1 or 2 kg of grains. How much grains should I use to replace the extract? Is there any ratio extract/grains?

Thanks

It's about 6:10 DME:grains. If you used 6kg DME and 2kg specialty grains, you'd use 10kg base and 2 kg specialty grains... or something like that. I've never personally converted a recipe.

Can't help you with kgs....But, if you ever decide to use lbs, the rule of thumb is...

1 lb of DME = 1.75 lbs of grain
1 lb of LME = 1.5 lbs of grain

Beersmith has a nice feature that will convert extract to all grain; I came up with around 16 lbs 11.5 oz of 2 row if you are using all LME and 20.58 lbs of 2 row if you are using all DME.

That's very helpfull. Thanks all of you! I'm really excited for my first all grain :)
