So I want to try to brew two beers with one brew day.
I want to brew a maibock (ale) and make some mash adjustments for a American Honey Wheat, but wanted to get some confirmation that I am on the right track.
Both recipes 5.5 gallons
MaiAle (Maibock)
Mash #1 / Boil #1
6.0 lb Vienna (DE) Any 40 % Mash 37 4 °L
6.0 lb 2-Row (US) Any 40 % Mash 37 1 °L
2.0 lb Munich - Light 10L (US) Any 13 % Mash 33 10 °L
0.5 lb Caramel/Crystal 40L (US) Any 3 % Mash 34 40 °L
0.25 lb Aromatic Malt (US) Any 1 % Mash 35 20 °L
1.0 oz Perle (US) 60 min Boil Pellet 7.8%
1.0 oz Saaz (CZ) 30 min Boil Pellet 3.2%
American Ale Wyeast 1056 75.0%
1.068 OG
1.017 FG
28 IBU
6.7% ABV
8 SRM
American Honey Wheat
Mash #2 / Boil #2
Add the wheat malt and flakes to the mash for another 60 minutes, honey post boil.
2.0 lb Wheat Malt (DE)
1.0 lb Flaked Wheat
1.0 lb Honey
1.0 oz Hallertau (DE) 60 min Boil Pellet 4.5%
0.5 oz Hallertau (DE) 30 min Boil Pellet 4.5%
American Ale Wyeast 1056 75.0%
estimated (I basically took an efficiency of 33% of the maibock recipe + new fermentables)
1.044 OG
1.011 FG
21 IBU
4.3% ABV
5 SRM
My general questions, does anything about these recipes seem out of place?
