Anyone paint the outside of a (mash tun) cooler? I don't think there would be any issues but wondering if anyone tried it.

normal paint probably wont stick, but there's a spray paint out there that's specifically made to stick to plastic (for painting patio furniture, etc).

Painting plastic is a really touchy ordeal given the number of different types of plastics in my experience. I have had luck with the plastic specific spray paints, however, they seem to work best when used with the matching primer.

I painted my "gott" round cooler, it was bright orange and I really did not like looking at it through my window. The paint rubs off easily from friction, like around the base mostly. The plastic that most coolers are made from is hard to get anything to stick to, although it stuck better than I thought. My brew stand's cooler mount has a lip to keep it located, this is why it's had so much scraping.

Do you think that Krylon paint would work well on the rubber/plastic coated kegs? I"m thinking yes if it work on PVC. I wouldn't mind touching mine up.

I manage a body shop and what you need is some adhesion promoter. probably the best thing to find is a can of Bulldog.. it comes in aresol cans and is sprayed over lightly scuffed plastic. The biggest concern when spraying over anything bare plastics is the release agents from the manufacturing. Anything that comes into our shop that is bare plastic must be washed atleast 3 times with just soap and water. Then it's prepped with a scuff pad, once in the spray booth and tacked off we then apply the bulldog (or equivalent) and then apply any paint products.. Hope this helps.. it's by far better than a can of Krylon.

Krylon Fusion paint will work for you, it has a solvent in it that "melts" the paint in to the plastic.
