Does anybody have any experience with the paintball co2 canisters. I'm wondering how much a fill up would cost.

I am not at all happy about the prospect of giving up my new 5lb alumimun tank in return for an old steel one or paying $18.95 + TAX for a fill up at the Fire ext. outlet.

A 20 lb. tank is more than I feel like I could safely lug around I might could handle a 10 lb. Maybe I should just rent a 10 lb. What's a reasonable price for renting a tank.

Also is there anyone in the Atlanta area that knows where I could get CO2 and not get ripped off?

I've been using them for the last few months.

I'm afraid I can't help you though.

A. I'm in the UK
B. I get paid to run paintball so I get it free.
C. I'm going full size CO2 because I have the stuff and refills at $14 a time.

4 bucks

I used to have about 6 of those lying around somewhere. I miss paintball actually, I think I may pick up another gun. All that running around will help work off this beer gut Ive aquired over the winter

I'm using a 20 oz for my keg, and it's going strong right now. Wasn't completly full to begin with. You have to fiddle with a couple fittings to get the right hookup to a regulator. A place here will fill one for 5 bux. However, they still check the expiration for the tank. If it's out of date, they charge foe a test as well. BUT if you KNOW the guy, and you got some brew to share....different story.:mug:

Chimone, aren't you 6' 6" tall? I know at 6' 2" all I am is a large target for all the little kids playing. As far as running around goes, I played in a big game with some guys from work last year and my leg cramped up while I was as far back in the woods as I could go. Needless to say my "friends" left me there.

Still can't wait to play again though.

Yea Ive given up playing with the kiddies on speedball fields. But give me a game in the mountains any day of the week. I do really well for being so big.....you'd be surprised how small I can become when paintballs are flying at me.

ok...enough hijacking...we now return you to your regularly scheduled program

I'm only getting a couple of brews from a 20oz and that's using for purging feremnters, kegs, starting syphons and serving. I don't use a reg and prime with dme/corn sugar.

I don't mind a flatter ale.

Well as near as a I can tell althought 5,10 & 20 lbs. tanks are a rip off it appears the 20 oz tanks are a bigger rip off. A lot of people advertising big tanks are saying to buy them to fill your 20 oz. tanks so you can save money.

is there any reason that you naturally carbonate rather than force carbonate other than the fact that you don't have a reg. I'm not all that crazy about a ton of carbonation either and am trying to get an idea of the best way to go. Probably try both and see. Just wondering thanks

I do have Kegs.

But I still like "Real Ale" It's what I'm used to and it's what I like and it's easier and it's cheaper and it's simpler and it takes less equipment and it means I spend less time going for CO2 and.....and....and......and.
No contest for me. If time is a factor then Brew more. :D
I'm surprised more people don't do it.

Warning - Rant attack!

What's the deal with using the word "rip off" in conjunction with buying retail products. It's not like someone is holding a gun to your head. I hear this used all the time as if retail outlets of various types are in the back room plotting against the general public. A real rip off is someone stealing from you or you taking what is not yours. How can you get ripped off by going to a seller and buying for the price he is offering exactly what you want?

End of Rant - carry on, as you were.

Following my rant above, I finally gathered my thoughts to answer one of the questions.

I get my 20 oz paintball tanks filled at a Academy, a Texas sporting goods store. They charge $3.99 plus tax. I don't know if this is the cheapest place but their prices on most things are close to Wally World.

sorry I didn't relize I was running afoul of the speech police

If you've got a brand new tank, I'd sell it and rent the tank. One time cheap fee and exchange.

If you have a rig you built to run off of paintball tanks, you can get a fill adapter and get a syphon tank to fill off of.

I ended up buying a 10 lb. tank from a company called O2 which he fills for the same price as a 5 lb $12.95. Go figure!

He won't rent, just exchange seemed like a no brainer to me.

I'll keep looking for a reasonable price on the 5 lb. and maybe use it as a portable, a spare or like D*BO suggested sell the thing.

Thanks for the input
