I made my first batch of mead today and learned that I needed to oxygenate the must. I have an oxygen and MAPP gas mini torch and a stainless steel stone. While bubbling the must I noticed the odd smell of MAPP gas. (yeah, that happened) After I noticed the smell I turned the gas off and vigorously stirred with my degassing wand and drill, in an attempt to purge the MAPP gas from the must. I then bubbled oxygen for a minute and degassed again, and repeated the oxygen. I'm convinced that this has to have happened to someone else at some point and would like to know if the damage is irreversible or is the mead still salvageable. Would someone please weigh in on this and tell me if I need to throw this batch out and start again, or give me some pointers on how to fix it?
