Orange Ginger Beer

So, I have discovered the grate taste of Crabby's orange ginger beer. I have comleted a couple of home beer kits (add water and yeast) and would like to know if or I can make an orange ginger beer keeping things this easy.

I was wondering, will it work to buy a simply ginger beer bag and add a litre of fresh orange juice from the start or will this just ruin everything? other than this does anyone have any better idea's

Any advise would be grand.

I've heard bad things about fermenting orange juice.
When I brew with orange, I use just the zest, and I like to mix my citrus.
1-2 orange(s)
1/2 lemon
1/4-1/2 grapefruit.
I add the zest in the last 5 minutes or less of the boil for partial mash recipes

Cheers, I was trying to avoid the boil as I dont have a pan big enough, I am a kit only person at the moment, syrup and water, maybe though its time to invest

I haven't seen orange extract, but I know they make extract for other fruits, something like add a few drops at bottling. or dry hop in the fermenter with the zest

You could make your own orange extract. Zest your oranges, set them someplace warm and dry to dry out. Mix them with a small amount of high proof alcohol. Let that sit for a week or so. Add drops to the brew post-fermentation to taste.

I've been thinking of doing that with mint, I suspect the mint in my last batch stalled the fermentation...

Do not use orange oil, it isn't chemically compatable with water without an emulsifier. Even then, it won't blend well.

McCormick's,the spice producers make a fine line of extracts in 1 oz. bottles. I have used the lemon extract in a 5 gallon batch of wheat beer and it came out wonderful. I have a 1 oz. bottle of the orange ready to be used in a Belgain style ale. The 1 oz bottle will give you all the orange flavor you want in a wheat beer,but I can't say about a ginger beer.Some of those have strong ginger flavors, so maybe you will have to experiment. Thanks for the advice, I think I will give the extract a go, how much extract do you use for the beer? the whole bottle? or a tablespoon?

I used the whole 1 oz. bottle for a 5 gallon batch. Don't know how many liters that is, but if a 5 gal./? liter fermenter is what you have try the whole bottle.I was not dissapointed. Good luck with your brew.
