When an inferior bottle of flavored imperial stout sells for near $1,000 on a regular basis, don't be surprised when a set of four legitimately world class beers starts breaking the $1,000 mark and upwards. New money.

I think if I dig further back into this thread, I got laughed at somewhere around a year ago by predicting that Blauw would hit $1000 in the not so distant future. How quickly things can change...

The fact that this guy makes such a big deal of "don't waste my time" while he sells an EMPTY seasons set…

Drink some ******* Hanssens or Cantillon if you can get it, even Lindemanns Gueueze is close enough. **** 1400$, if you´re that dumb the Bourbon forums are ----->

Very true. Going price seemed to have settled around $750, so that seems like quite a jump. I suspect the flimsy box that will likely break in shipment was part of the reason for the higher price.

I think I paid $650 shipped from Belgium from my seasons set about a year ago. I didn't get a box but it didn't matter because I threw the bottles in the recying bin after they were consumed.

I recall when I traded with cfrances33 for my set, he offered me the box. But I declined because I didn't want to think of how annoying it would be for him to have to ship such a thing.

That guy is the biggest d-bag I've prob ever dealt with in craft beer and that's saying a lot.

Just as a hilarious followup to this. I was finally contacted by him tonight.

Alright I'm going to report you to the admin of this site as well as your
ISP.

I'm also reporting you to the justice department for harassment and I will
be contacting your local police department and filing a claim with them as
well. The admins of the site have already been contacted. Here's a tip for
you - if you are going to harass people make sure the person you are going
to harass doesn't have all of your contact information.

Any of you know this guy David DeBruin from Eden Prairie, MN?

Hopefully he has reported all of the income from sale of collectible bottles on his taxes. It would really be a shame if he reported you to the authorities and was then found guilty of tax evasion.

So wait, since the Seasons set is apparently worth $700 on secondary and KBBS is close to $1000 and beer trading in 2016 is all based on secondary prices, could a KBBS trade 1:4+ for the seasons set with some other lambics as extras?

Don't get me wrong, I had a great time sharing it with the lady on a weekend getaway. But not $800-$1,000 great time.

Yeah, what I meant was more "I'm glad when I had it, it was an on-premise consumption bottle, so I didn't have to think at all about the 'value' of what I was drinking/had drank". Honestly I really enjoy drinking rare/limited beers on-site at breweries and bars partly for that reason. Something a bit more relaxed feeling about it I guess.

Agreed. You don't have the option to think, "is this really the right time to drink this?" "Should I sell this?" "If I have this, I won't have anymore."

I ******* hate this, and I know I do it, and I know it's stupid as ****, and I do it anyway.

"If I drink this now, I won't have it around for *insert hypothetical bottle share at some future date*"

"How can I justify drinking this by myself instead of with a group of people?"

"Ugh, what if I bring this and *person X from tasting group* isn't there? Do I open it, or save it for next time?"

We are the worst.

There´s a bottle of Loerik in the corner looking at me saying "You could sell me and have a week on the West coast or drink me and enjoy a gueuze that may or may not have made it to it´s intended state...."

This IS a humblebrag.

but just think, if you crack yours, there's one less left in the wild. you're not only destroying the value of yours to absolute zero by drinking it as it was brewed to be drank, but you're also increasing the value of the other shitlords that are holding theirs by decreasing supply. and they want that.

Everything in bold has been a constant consideration for me the past 3-4 years. Through that time I was actively trying to reduce my cellar and countless times found myself looking at a bottle I wanted to open but didnt because "insert person" might really enjoy and appreciate me sharing it with them. Then...X amount of gatheringss/shares pass and the beer is still sitting there.

Having that attitude did nothing for helping me reduce inventory. Thats why I now give zero ***** and everything I have is fair game for being opened at any given time. (Save for a case of Fantomes that is being carted to a tasting next month.)

Sorry, this post has nothing to do with MBC. If that bothere you, **** off. :)
