I assume most bidding on MyBeerCollectibles is that.

You'd think that, but in a lot of these cases its not. Its possible to tell from the database tables that money exchanges hands. There are a lot of people who will spend $$$ for these IPAs.

Looks like the guy is trying to find the reserve. At least he stopped at $90. I mean, that's only $22.50 per can for an IPA that will be a couple weeks old by the time you get it. Just walk down to your local brewery and get a truly fresh IPA for a fraction of the cost of a hyped IPA that will be produced again, and again, and again.

A couple of weeks old? Didn't you read the listing, the can of Green is "vintage" from the first canning run! A true piece of beer history!

I was just talking to someone about the Seasons' Set trying to work out a trade and figure out the value.. then.. wtf..

So like $450 or so a set. Is that high? I don't pay attention to secondaries too much...

edit: didn't they retail for like $300? Or am I nuts

edit2: or did that actually sell as a 3 bottle set for $1400? If so, that's ******* insane

The fact that this guy makes such a big deal of "don't waste my time" while he sells an EMPTY seasons set…

Oh hey Cam! I had to put 2 and 2 together when I saw Raleigh! Hope alls well.

If I remember correctly:

3F 50th Anniversary, 1999 3F Oude Geuze, some vintage of Blabaer, and something else for $1200. "Market value" was probably closer to 2000+ if the bottles were parted out and sold individually.

The bottle you're forgetting was an '07 Hommage

Thought it was 50th, 99, Malvasia (I think), and 07 Hommage

Either way, I don't know that just 50th and 99 would get posted here if it was $1200 - maybe not the best deal ever but not as bad as the rest of this thread at least, much less the other two bottles

Edit: I'm late but my second paragraph still stands

I admit the 4 bottles listed for $1200 would've been tempting, but I'm pretty sure they sold in like 6 minutes.

edit: Saying this as a guy that's never bought off MBC, but yeah, those 4 bottles for that price actually isn't terrible, IMO.

Is the buyer the same facesnorth that is on this site?

I see the buyer rated the seller negative so hopefully if the bottles were in fact empty he caught that before paying.

Reasons not to buy from "BeerForYou" on my beer cellar.

  1. Picture includes what appear to be 4 full bottles.
  2. Under description: Empty Bottle
  3. Includes rant about low ball offers and he can't believe people have the nerve to offer less than what the listed price.
  4. Even full, $1,400 for the seasons set would have made it to this thread in my opinion.

That guy is the biggest d-bag I've prob ever dealt with in craft beer and that's saying a lot.

I "bought" his ridiculously overpriced seasons set and left him the bad feedback based on a previous sale that I had legitametely bought, which he revoked and banned me from ever buying from him again.

This occurred after I bought a couple of his lots and tried to explore the possibility of expanding for unlisted items he told me about, but kindly suggested some of his prices weren't realistic for a bulk sale and made him what I thought was a fair offer. He didn't reply to me for weeks until I checked in with him again and he informed me that I was banned. Lol.

Edit: as a side note, there's a lot of scammers on MBC lately! Be cautious about too good to be true deals and request extra photos with specific items like a dated newspaper or a topless selfie.

But seriously, this wasn't for empty bottles right? Is that something people just put in the listings because they think they won't get in trouble for illegally selling beer? Or do people actually buy/sell empty bottles? This world is so foreign to me.

People do actually collect empty bottles. With the box, I wouldn't be surprised if the seasons set pulled in $75-100 as legitimately empty bottles. But $1,400 had to have been full.

I don't even secondary, but $1,400 is easily double what any reasonable person would buy the box set for. Holy ****. Consider mine for sale at that price.
When an inferior bottle of flavored imperial stout sells for near $1,000 on a regular basis, don't be surprised when a set of four legitimately world class beers starts breaking the $1,000 mark and upwards. New money.
