Was the DDG I got to try an off bottle? Or does it always taste like an acetic bomb that has no business being rated like #40 or whatever. For some perspective that's above all Cantillon except Fou Foune'
I really enjoyed both batches of DDG but I just don't take those rankings seriously. Fou Foune is my least favorite of the fruited Cantillon by far.

The bottle I had wasn't acetic, though you aren't the first person to say that about it. I like DDG, though its rating is definitely inflated. I'd rather drink a good bottle of Tilquin or 3F gueuze

I've enjoyed DDG every time I've had it, sometimes considerably. The last bottle of 2013 I had was starting to fall off though (in September 2015), and given who I received it from I have no doubt it was stored impeccably. So like a lot of AWAs I'm not really feeling the long-term aging potential, which obviously isn't a huge deal (to me, I tend to drink stuff in a year or two at most).

Nope they are all acidic bombs. Had more pleasurable Cascade.

This has been solely my experience on three different '13 bottles so YMMV.

I've had DDG twice. The first time I was really impressed and the second time it was one of the worst beers of the evening. I think it was about a year apart between tastings so I'm thinking Julian's right that it's a beer that's not particularly graceful when it comes to aging.

And how many of those IPA cans get pumped out every week? Yeah, 7200 is a lot of a single bottle release but like I said above, these are everyday hops that you can pretty easily get all year round. I get what you're saying though.
Yeah, I'm certainly not taking the IPA's side. I just always find it funny how ppl tout the whale-ishness of certain bottles like DDG or BC variants when in fact there are tons of them. Anyways...trading is dumb, we all agree on that.

I originally included in my comment that the top-rated Cantillon being Fou' Foune was absurd but then removed it as to not muddy up my question :D

Which is exactly the reason I don't bother trying to get something like DDG, BCBS variants, FO, et al when they have massive bottle counts yet they are mysteriously hard to get. Just not worth it.

Ya, that **** definitely isn't worth something like MBP, ya know, just as an example.

About 6 months ago we did DDGb1, DDGB2, Izzy.
All of them were great, and not overly sour imho. Rankings were izzy, b1, b2 (not all much difference between the 2 batches.)
Not nearly as sour or disgustingly acidic as the past 3 beats I've opened (which is a shame as I love the oak in that beer). All that said, the only one that really stood out was Izzy. That beer is one of the most unique and beautifully funky beers I've ever tasted. Id rather drink 3fog all day than DDG.

I don't necessarily dislike acidic beers but except for Rodenbach and a few others I can't stand acetic (vinegar) at all. I seem to be sensitive to trace amounts too.

Wife's favorite beers are Duchess Bourgogne and Rodenbach. Yet she isn't a fan of lambic. Win win and a cheap date.

I can't drink Duchesse or a couple other Belgian Flanders Reds, they all taste like bile to me. Must be too much residual sugar or something.

Rodenbach is cool, though.

Yeah duchesse is like drinking liquid brown sugar. Unless I've got some nasty blue cheese with it, I can't stomach it.

How many times is this guy gonna post this before he realizes these aren't going 1:1? At least he changed the order of the way he posted the ISO and FT. That should help amirite?

Let's ask him domdomdomdom are u just looking for the right set of eyes?
Edit: dammit Dbijnagte

Why wouldn't those go 1:1? If you look at secondary MBP is going for substantially more. Seems like a legit trade to me...can we use the "right set of eyes" meme non-ironically?

:( I was waiting for this to show up here...
Don't forget I'm posting at different times too!
I admire your persistence. I've seen this offer many times on FB as well as MBP + Rye Black Magick for SR-71 multiple times. It never gets done. Saw a guy say he'd trade his SR-71 for MBP + Rye Black Magick + Vanilla Rye. F all that noise.

Not going to get into a "secondary" argument, but see above regarding the offers that have been made and not been completed. Also, MBP is absolutely not going for substantially more on secondary. Not even close. And the MBP that supposedly sold for $910 on MBC definitely was fake to drive up hype (my opinion, but the fact that this trade isn't getting done says enough)
