This dude is legendary for his terrible offers.

Last week this guy was ISO Midnight Still and FT Art. I messaged him as soon as I saw it, offering the set for Art 3:1. The people in the local Seattle Facebook group had gotten to him first and trolled the **** out of him for his ****** replies to their previous messages. I just wanted the Art but people had other ideas in mind. One guy led him on for days before backing out. He's since stopped responding to messages from anyone. Someone also posted his leather jacket + ponytail pics and "bouldering" and "rock climbing" photos (read: him laying on a rock). Pretty amusing stuff.

I've traded IP with him. Not a bad guy IP honestly but just horrible online.

Damn. That's some savage stuff.

Okay, I'll bite. Why is Art for MS such a terrible offer again? A 3/2/1 bottle limit $40 saison for 3 bottle limit on the Cherry and 4 bottle limit on the Coffee. And it's not like you had to wait in line for the MS stuff (nor the Art for that matter).

Art was never 3pp in effect, just on the website until a day or so before they opened that Wed. It was 2pp, then 1pp, and even 0pp as HF switched to holding some back to sell Thur and Fri. IIRC it is a blend of 1-3 year wine barrel aged Arthur so it's essentially Ameri-geuze. And if Ann was any indicator, the subsequent batches will be onsite only.

I've only started seeing the name Holy Mountain a few months ago so I see Midnight Still as the latest See the Stars / ABVMZ / Scooop / etc. Likely decent but not worth an Art.

The proposed trade is the other way around, offered Art for the Midnight Still bottles.

I think the context of that story above is that wethorseblanket tried to take up the SedMechine on his offer only to find that others had already tried and were now trolling due to shitlordy responses. So it's not the ask that is a terrible offer- it is just the trader that sucks.

edit:Also nhindian I am a little confused about the end of your post. Anyone who got 2 Arts at release definitely had to wait in line.

Exactly - wethorseblanket said the guy makes terrible offers but was offering the Art for the MS. I was wondering why that's a terrible offer.

Yeah maybe I misread it. But he led his post by saying he makes bad offers and then gives an example of a .... not bad offer?

It's one of the extremely, extremely few. Trust me when I say that it is his body of work that led to the trolling even when the offer wasn't that objectively bad.

It's not a terrible offer, that's why I jumped on it. He was offering Art as part of a list for the MS set and some other ISOs. Also on his list was SP Bleuet which I was also interested in.

I'd never heard of the guy before, I was not the one who said he was famous for posting bad offers.

is there a chart or some sort of formula online that explains beer weight/value? something to help evaluate these offers so i know who to mock, why and how?

this thread makes my head spin. throw in the acronyms and well.... jivex5k can do the gif'ing here

I wrote a beer value formula a while back, didn't account for weight though.
Typically you apply the standard #newmoney trade valuation equation to figure this stuff out:

howMuchCanIGetForThisBro = (beerStylePoints[currentbeer.style] + breweryPoints[currentbeer.brewery] - bottleNumber/1000 - bottleCount/100) + (baRating + numberOfIsoOnBa/250)

Of course you need the beerStylePoints table which is constantly changing. It's determined by the the number of Instagram photo likes over a month, with condolambics usually staying on top.

The same goes for the breweryPoints table, updated monthly with factors like:
1. How hard is it to get to the brewery?
2. How many infections have they passed off as intentional?
3. Do the bottles contain the word "farm" on them?
4. Do they have an active social media presence?

These are all weighted and applied to determine the final breweryPoints.

But you can see from the equation that the bottle number doesn't affect it very much, while lower is better it's divided by 1000 which really dials down it's affect on the final trade value found.

Maybe it's time to update it for 2016.

Someone earlier today made a post with the thread title simply saying "FT: One Can of Tree House Haze - Make Me An Offer".

I'm half tempted to message him asking if he'll take a KBBS for the Haze and then send him a bottle of Lexington's Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout.
Don't forget to dip it in wax first.
