I finally got some time to catch up on (home)brewery chores. Last night I kegged 4 batches that were in either primary or secondary and ready to keg; an Alt, 2 IPA's and an APA. The Alt has a bit of a odd aftertaste, but I am thinking (hoping) it will mellow and perk up once carbed and aged a bit. The 2 IPA's are house IPA's, nothing new there. The APA is a new recipe that I am looking forward to trying....looking for that ellusive malty, full flavored ale with an OG under 1.048. Time will tell.

Now I have fermenters open for business again. I made a trip to my HBS last night and picked up a bunch of grains, some new yeast, and a few odds and ends. Gonna try a hard lemonade for my wife for the first time this weekend, still looking for a good, simple, basic recipe to build on. Now I just have to decide what beer to brew. Decisions, decisions.....

Brew on..... :mug:

Do a wheat! I just got to sample my American wheat last night that has been on gas at 30 PSI for 2 days and it was F'ing great. Saison is next for me after I brew my porter tonight.

any chance you might end up sharing the American Wheat recipe...i've tried designing my own and they have been...less than stellar, each time. Belgians, and stouts i have no problem with...wheats i can't seem to get down!

My recipe:

1/2 pale malt (I use Rahr 2 row)
1/2 wheat malt

Aim for 1.050-1.055 OG or so.
Hallertau hops- aim for about 20 ibu's (only a bittering addtn)
Try wyeast 3333 german wheat

Personally I like traditional german weiss beer better using german pilsner and german wheat malt. I use wyeast 3068 also.

For me it has much better flavor. Cheers!

I will be home in about a hour or 2. If I have time (insert 2 kids and a wife) I will send it to you no prob. PM me to remind me if you want. Its a real simple recipe that uses cascade and WLP001 California ale yeast. Can't wait to get home and drink this while I brew tonight.
