Welp I screwed this Irish red ale kit up. Heated up the mash water on the stove to 160, dropped the bag of grains in. Thought I turned the heat off, ended up being on high for 30min while I was doing yard work. Temp got to 190 when I found it. Went ahead and finished brewing. Tasted good.

Added yeast s05 last night, hardly any activity this morning.

If nothing else goes wrong maybe it will just be sweeter with lower ABV?

Probably. Depends on how much conversion took place before you killed the enzymes. Give it a couple of days. Worst case, add some table sugar to dry it out and up the abv.

Should have been 1.044, ended up being SG of 1.038
