I wanted to try to make some Oktoberfest, but unforutnately I don't have access to a fridge for lagering. I also don't have a basement (have a damp crawlspace), so saving it for a winter project is out as well. I know that I could make a swamp cooler to achieve lagering temps, but with my work schedule, it will be difficult to keep temps in check. Has anyone had success in using an ale yeast in their Oktoberfest? Any recommendations for what type of ale yeast to use? I'm planning on using the extract kit from Midwest. Thanks!

I tried once. I honestly forget which yeast I used, but it fell pretty short, so I dubbed it Septemberfest. Hopefully you will have better luck than I did!

There is a popular recipe on here, BierMuncher's OktoberFAST, it uses US-04. I would put the link in, but I'm using HBT mobile. I have not personally tried it, but I have used a recipe of his before and looking at the post count, it looks like a good one.
