I've got a new to me keg that leaks around the lid. I've put new o-ring on and lubed up still leaks. Any suggestions on how I might be able to fix it?

Sometimes you just get a finnicky keg. I have one of those. It always seals at a high pressure (30PSI), but when I lower it to serving pressure it would sometimes leak. Not always, but sometimes. I tried new gaskets, lube, and swapping out lids but nothing worked. I'm assuming there is a deformation somewhere in the keg that creates the leaks. It looks fine.

It cost me one too many CO2 tanks, so it's been retired. Now I use it to store StarSan and line cleaner.

Have you cranked up the psi to seat the lid. If not try about 30 psi to see if that works.

Can you see any visible dents, gouges, scratches, deformities, etc in the rim of the opening or in the lid itself?

If not, it may just need a little help seating, as the others suggested. Give it a good blast at 30+psi and that may fix it. I've had to do that with one of mine from time to time.

Ok so a penny under each post and 30 psi got it to seat. Now I'm wondering about serving pressure will it loose it's seal since it didn't seal with pennies at 15psi.

Graduate to nickles and then quarters?

We'll wanted to say thanks for the help guys. Keg held 10lbs all night last night. Got a cream ale carving today in it. Will say the place I got it has sent another to replace this one. They said I shouldn't have had any problems with so they sent another. Gotta say that was pretty good customer service on their part.

Use some food grade "petro-gel" on the o-ring. This is exactly what I used to seal up my "Corny" kegs. If you can't find it locally, look on Amazon. It's about $7 USD. "McGlaughlin Oil PETROL-GEL".

Oops. Missed the part where you said "lubed up". Oh well, maybe the post will still help someone. I used a couple of kegs for years before I knew there was such a thing as keg grease.
