Oh, sh$t happens - all-in!

After racking to secondary carboy, I was trying to push in the airlock bung and talking to my friend at the same time, then "pooop" it's in. All the way in! I managed to pull the bung up and tied two nails on the airlock just to hold the bung up and seal the carboy. So far, it is sealed and makes some bubbles.

Now, how do I get it out?

i've been there. I wrapped the base with saran wrap and taped it up....and let it do its thing. When you pull out the airlock the stopped will be in the carboy, I use a metal meat skewer with the tip bent in a "V" to hook out the stopped.

FWIW I don't know why they even sell regular stoppers anymore. Those universal stoppers are one of the best things to hit homebrewers. I got a couple this year, wish I would have had them years ago. Of course I pushed two stoppers in carboys the last two batches I did so I was at the end of my rope hahaha

I'd try to bend a metal hangar into a hook, and push it throught the hole very carefully, and then hook it out. Good luck though.

It is easy to get out after you have transfered the beer.

Stuff a rag into the hole, tilt the carboy so the stopper sits on the rag and pull out the rag. The stopper will come right out.

Be carefull of coat hangers because they scratch glass...

It'll be easier if the (normal) bottom of the bung is facing the opening...
