Shecky calling Yooper old?!?!?! Fight, fight, fight!
Hey, somebody get shecky's walker out of the way so he can move...
Don't go starting stuff, you. I didn't call her old. She called herself old.

My walker rocks. Got big ol' casters on that sucker so it can keep up with me when I run.:D

For the future (and this is my grandmother's idea), wrap the top of your stove with tin foil. The flames won't affect it, and cleaning up in the future's as easy as replacing the foil.

A boiling wort spill just glues the aluminum foil to the top of the stove.

You can guess how I know this.

Mostly hot water and time with an occasional scrape with a wooden or plastic utensil (sos not to scratch the paint). You "may" actually scratch the top, but some enamel polish will fix it right up again.

Or, you can sandblast and then paint the color you REALLY want! Orange! (with a tiny 01 and confederate flag)

Oh, come on now Shecky, we all know the only reason you run is to make it to the bathroom. Incontinence is a great motivator:D

Incontinence is never having to say, "I'm sorry I've soiled myself and there's nothing you can do about it".

Ahoy hoy,
Well, now that you have been enlightened on a variety of ways to clean that mess, how about I help you use that stove again for brewing, without the same consequences? And this is from experience. I too had a stove, looked exactly like yours did the first time i cooked a 50qt pot on it with mucho wort. And it sucked cleaning it, but it came clean. But who wants to clean that plated on crap every time? My solution? A canning burner element. Yes kids, they make aftermarket burner elements, for use in canning, that sit the element higher, with good support to handle the weight of many gallons. This works 2fold; a much stabler pot full of wort; and, a stove top that looks like it did BEFORE you started. And it does a pretty fair job getting 8 gallons boiling, which is the most I have tried. Im only doing 5 gallon batches for the most part, so 8 was exception, not the norm. But it has worked just great for me up here this winter. At first, I still covered the element pan beneath it was aluminum foil, but found that it was unnecessary after all.
Heres the link and a picture. Hope it helps. A good day to all.

I use the stove top cleaner for flap top stoves. Works like a charm. i have the same type of stove so i dont see why it wouldnt work for you as well. Just has to sit for a little while.

Jesus H., Do any of you guys have a functioning set of cohones? Yeah, clean it because you made a mess. But If you're all sweated up because the ol lady is gonna get mad. Get the frilly apron out and turn in your man card. The kitchen is just as much mine as it is hers.

I would start with a scraper to lift the big chunks. Then move on to the oven cleaner.

Bunch a Nancy's

Single, as in, there is only one of me.

And that is really me in that pic too. Handsome devil, ain't I?

I just blamed it on the 4 year old.

Damn 4 year olds. They're notorious for dragging Daddy's socks out of the laundry bin and depositing them beside his bed, taking his jacket off the hook and throwing it over a chair, and staying out all night boozing with his friends.

Okay, maybe not the boozing with friends thing, but everything else, oh yeah, that's them.

Scouring pad or 500-1000 grit sandpaper. At least this is what i used and it did not mess up the finish on the stove

i know its clean, but i find that scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner, works great for geting stains off of my stove.
