Any idea why they don't just let badges level to infinity? I'd love to get a quick count of (approximately) how many IPAs I've had by just looking and seeing I'm at Level 60 (or whatever) rather than add up all my check-ins under the different IPA styles.

Please excuse me while I catch WAY up on untappd check-ins. I am so, so sorry to anyone who follows me. Trying to get this done before acceptable/reasonable drinking hours to minimize the annoyance factor.

gregavola should make a "private mode" for situations like this...

I gave up trying to scroll past your drunken mess :p

Did some further reading: http://help.untappd.com/kb/beer-guidelines/how-are-ratings-determined-on-untappd

Interesting method that should prevent skewed ratings from outliers and/or people trying to hype more limited beers. Still kind of frustrating to know beers with fewer ratings are more susceptible to being tempered by this system. Fortunately, Untappd seems to have the most ratings/reviews of the beer review sites I reference.
I noticed lately that beers with less reviews all of a sudden had higher ratings than before (ie not weighted on the all around mean rating of all beers). Looks like the standard ratings have been revised and the requirements are a 10 rating minimum and the Top Beers lists use the old Bayesian system. I think I prefer this method.

There was A LOT of discussion about this in the moderator group, for some reason the precise outcomes of these matter a lot to people. I've never looked at a beer's rating on Untappd, so it's odd to me.

Anyway, yes this was changed a couple months ago.

This may have been discussed earlier (and sorry if it has)...but who the hell are these "power users" as I'll call them who randomly friend you and have like 200 cheers per beer. I don't get it! I really don't. Do they just try to friend every Untappd user and then people just blindly cheer anything that's posted? I don't understand either side of that equation...

Yeah, there are people who do that. I don't get it either. I guess some people are just starved for attention?

If anyone would like to add me, I'm under the same name as here, ckobes

Edpecially if you're not from the Midwest. I want to see more out of state local check ins

Any reason the app isn't available for an ipad? I'm guessing it's a totally different application that's needed?
Right, it would be a totally different thing and since basically no one has an ipad but not a phone, it's not a priority right now.

I don't get that either. I'm more interested in what my local untappd users are drinking since I have access to it.
The ones with hundreds of friends reminds me of Facebook!
Probably why I only have a few...

Also, they are trying to help you not be "that guy" taking a picture of the taplist at your local watering hole and looking like this.

Does anyone else have an odd sense of pride in topping the "Loyal Drinkers" lists for given beers? I almost uniformly drink saisons and (other than various homebrew saisons; of course I have leads there) have managed to climb to the top for:

Saison Dupont (having a keg helped; getting another soon)
Fantôme Saison (God bless Pennsylvania stores selling this by the case)
Jolly Pumpkin Calabaza Blanca (definitely worthy of a summer keg)
Off Color Apex Predator (second only to Dupont)
Tired Hands FarmHands (probably in stone now that it's switched to SaisonHands)
Stillwater Classique (awesome summer lake saison; getting a keg soon)
Goose Island Sofie (received a free keg, that was quite amazing)
Penrose Devoir (great light, clean, local saison)

I should be grabbing a comfortable lead for Bam Bière, as I just picked up a sixtel yesterday and, now that I know that I can get it, will keep it on tap as close to year round as I can. I also plan to make a run at Prairie Standard once we (finally) have Prairie back in Chicago :D

stakem, are you reading this?
;)
this was valid years ago...not anymore that im aware of except maybe philly

if i used untappd every time i drank a beer im sure id be at the top of some beer lists for #1 consumer but i dont even know how to see that info from my iphone and i am never near a computer when drinking

if anyone thinks they drank more voodoo cowbell or black magick than me. you are wrong :) i dont need an app to prove that

Moll and I got lucky a few times, but pretty sure those cases were obtained in summer 2011 and summer 2012.

As far as I know, can't see the drink leader list on a phone. I look it up on the computer once and a while to see how things are going. Really just need to validate my opinion that Jason Yester is wrong when he says no one loves saison more than him :D

just removed 100+ people from my friends list

if we were friends and you are upset about it send me a request and private message. i basically removed every single person whom i saw the name/avatar and did not immediately recognize. in hindsight, i think i aced a couple i didnt mean to

I was slowly making my way to being the top drinker of Row 2/Hill 56 before I moved. Think I made it to third. Have no idea where I am now.

Lone Pint Yellow Rose. I'm proud. And it's not even close. (Ahem, TxUltraRunner)
