Tasted like I was drinking stomach bile that I just puked up after a night of drinking sours.

Did you get any of the bleach thing some have mentioned? I haven't opened any yet.

Opened Cherry Pentameter saturday night. All acidity, absolutely no character or nuance. Tasted like I was drinking stomach bile that I just puked up after a night of drinking sours.

I had a similar experience. Needed more fruit, imo. Went from cold acid to warm acid. Very side project-esque.

I opened a Cherry Pentameter Thursday and didn't get any chlorine that some have mentioned. I also didn't get bile either. It was more sour than I anticipated, but I attributed that to the cherries, which I'm assuming were a tart cherry varietal. It was missing the complexity and nuances that Pentameter had, it was more one dimensional, a tart cherry juice. Not bad but not anywhere near Pentameter.

The one bottle I've opened was tart cherry juice too. No off flavors, fairly fruit-forward.

I'm the bleach dude... But I still got a ton of cherry and thought it was quite good despite the weird chemical thing.

I didn't taste a drop of cherry juice in it, no fruit character whatsoever. SAISON ****, what did you think?
No cherry juice, some cherry pit and quite sour. Maybe there was bottle variation (which would be strange with the low bottle count). Overall, pretty disappointing after being excited to try it.

Goddamt. Chilling one now. I was supposed to be sitting on some killer beer dammit. B

What's up with that, indeed.

Had the Blackbery Maigre courtesy of @weatherdog (one day I hope he joins and gets retroactive notifications), and thought it was very good. Would compare it to the fruited berlinner weisse variants that Pollyana has been putting out lately.

Would love to taste the base version on of these days.

Can anyone shed a little light on what was going on with/used in Obligatory, the APA yesterday? It smelled amazing like peach rings almost, but the taste and body fell short. I still enjoyed it quite a bit, but the taste was very subdued versus the smell.

Ballast Point Grunion has a similar hop profile (IMHO) as Obligatory had. You might want to check it out if you liked it. My tasters could be broken though.

This was my experience as well on Sunday.

Sounds like these bottles are all over the place.

Cracked a Obelus Galaxy tonight. Tart, citrusy, and very refreshing. For $10.91, I'm so glad we can get this in our backyard pretty much.
It was slightly too sweet for me, wish it had more funk, but I'd buy more to sit on to see if something develops. I absolutely love the oaked version though.

Finally opened one of my Cherry Pentameters last night. There was definitely an off aroma there, but I'd say it was like a sulfur/rotten egg smell. It wasn't too prominent as I was still getting a bunch of tart cherry in the nose. I'm trying to rack my brain and remember, but I could swear I've gotten a similar off aroma from a real kriek lambic before, but much more subdued. Maybe something coming from the cherries?
Taste was straight tart cherry, with little to no funk, like most have mentioned. I did get an enjoyable spicyness and dryness on the back end. Still enjoyed it, but disappointed it didn't live up to what I was hoping it would be.

Piling on the Cherry Pentameter now. Maybe a small aroma issue but probably only because I was looking for one. Beer is decent if one note. A sour cherry how's your father? and that's about it.

I thought Transients BB Berliner was way better then Polyana, Poly's kind of had a latex thing going on...

Maigre growler gushed like crazy but it was tasty on a warm day. Reminds me a lot of Penrose Deminimus Blanc. They both feel like a berliner/gose hybrid that eliminates things I don't like. Really tasty and easy to drink.

Chardonnay Obelus was outstanding in my opinion. It's been "cellared" in my basement since the initial release. The carb/mouthfeel were spot on. I was impressed that I detected no alcohol at 8%. The body was full but not overly malty like Peur was in my opinion at the same ABV. Nice hints of straw, hay, oak but the main tastes I got were sweet apple and pear with a hint of grape. It was SUPER dry, which I love. A crispness but not a tartness for me. Compared really closely to Allagash Tiarna, which I drank right before it and was pretty much the same age in the bottle. Glad I waited on this one.

we did both Obelus's back in May and enjoy both very much...

Anybody have Biere du Ruche lately? We're heading over to Heritage Prairie Farm tonight for the wood fired pizza night, and I thought about bringing it along to have it at the farm where the honey came from to make the beer. Just wondering how the Brett was doing and if this one was "ready" as Chris said at release that it needed some time.
