Boones was the real surprise

Austin strawberry-beer tasting. I personally liked the strawberry rhubarb best for greatest flavor as always, and CC strawberry lager was a surprise treat. O&P was my favorite strawberry sour but rhythm rug was some others' favorite. Cask Strawberry b3 tasted better than b1. I French pressed 4 strawberries into 2015 BCBS for 2 days and that was awesome as well.

Pretty sure we were only missing the BA stout crowler from a few months ago, one or two of the Nooners, and DCB from the past few years. Excellent night with Rjdillman Bellsfounder Brewski Matthouse3 noslenwerd jon2dubs @dannyfayy

Had a great night yesterday with skrip Pneill316 mbrown44 Fbc24 baybum ans a couple others not on the site.

Highlights for me were St. Abdeed Vlelum(Not pictured), 98 Iris, 08 OGV, and A&T.

Also not pictured is Struise Special Kay and Pneill316's tangerine and blue raspberry homebrew lambics which were phenomenal.

How did the DHVL 20th stand up?

Split a BiaB tasting pack with Sam Fu lumpyhead1221 blazay and a couple others. Supplemented with some other gueuze and some stouts to close the night. Great times were had. It was Sam's last night in Raleigh - we'll miss you, homie! (Protip, when you're in Asheville at tasty beverage, ask for Sam and see if they have any hopslam or KBS)

If y'all see another box like that, I highly recommend getting a group like this and doing it - trumps any $80 I've ever spent on a beer fest, and it's not close. 16 amazing gueuzes is a hard night to beat.

Fresh golden blend, cuvée Rene special blend, and 2012 boon marriage parfait were my highlights.

As was Sam Fu:

Gueuze tasting, with a couple American attempts thrown in as well. Did This tasting blind Saturday night with 4 other guys (and 2 wives masterfully handling the demanding blind pouring duties and enjoying some pours as well). Got a little silly by the end, and palates were def. ruined. Tilquin 11/12 edged out a 3 year old 3F OG for the win.

highlights? also thoughts on the flora

Highlights for me were the Zomer (duh) Flora and ***** cuvee. Thoughts on the Flora Cuvee? Like B5 and B6 made sweet sweet love and B5's genetics won. Flora Cherry was interesting, not sure if it was palate fatigue or just being after the others but it has an odd medicinal taste to me, still very good but sharp cherry, not tart or sweet, sharp i guess is the best descriptor my layman ass can come up with.

Invited a mate over to eat chili and drink lambic... we ended up ticking a few more bottles than planned.

Small bottles are from Stockade brewing here in Aus. Standard fare, except the gose which I thought was exceptional.

Murray's Anniv was 2010 and delicious. Gilloise 2012 and spectacular. The Hoptimum was also from 2012 - I can't remember why I held on to it. Aroma was faded to caramel, taste was surprisingly bitter, clean and pretty fresh tasting still. If I didn't know what it was I would've figured it was a decent IPA that was 6 months old or so. After four years, it was pretty impressive.

I forget what that Struise was like on the end. My palate was ****** by that point

What did you think of Le Bretteur? I liked it when I had it at FoBAB a few years back, but was pretty shocked when it won Best in Show.

Hard to believe it is a sour/wild ale. While tasty it was way more soft and I would've guessed it to be a saison. Not a knock per se but it just wasn't what I think of when I think of a wild ale.
