Billiards and beer Thursday last night with NAPO and some other fine gentlemen. No super ticks, just an assortment of beers.
Julius, Finest Kind, Proclamation Derivative, Tap Intergalactic Acid, Transmitter SY1, Prairie Limo Tint, Mystic Flor Z, Cascade Strawberry, Hardywood Gingerbread stout, SoMe Apostrophe IPA, Funky Buddha Blueberry Cobbler, Proclamation Harper I Apricot, BP Calm before Storm, and Nightshift Santilli.

And the other two 12oz bottles...
Buddy's homebrew. Ourbeer **** yo Reality. Weed infused IPA, both flower for flavor and tincture for effect. It worked. Well.

Good fun.

Pretty solid night for SummerSlam. Fram Ferm was my star. Everything you love about SdF with the best color and flavor of raspberries that I've ever had. Sarrasin was next level. As good as Art & Cellarman. OGV 07 was really tasty. Reserved and balanced. Fantasia Reserve was a wild ride. Still & blended w/Chardonnay from what I understand. Huge peach flavor. Like an after dinner drink. Nooner 8 was pure hazelnut. Mouthfeel of a porter though. Plum Fruit Stand was delicious. Saison version of Quetsche Tilquin. Beautiful color too. Flora B/B was basically Flora that was tarted up by the tart fruit. NG Vintage 14 is fantastic. Beautiful carb and delicate tartness. Citrus Desay was a lemon lime sweet tart. Tasty but crazy tart. Nuthulu was rich and well rounded but it isn't BCBS variant level IMO. Double Date was thin and boozy with some dark fruits. Death by Coconut was crazy thin and lacked flavor. KH BBBW was hugely toffee forward but drank like pure booze. So thin. I hope it was just one bad bottle but that bottle of Buckley was no gouda. Crossing into green pepper territory and showing some booze. All in all, a great night of Chicagoland bitchtickin!

Cantillon tasting from Friday night with bourbonbob and some of his local crew (TB handles?) in the northwestern burbs.

The Lou Pepe Kriek from 2007 was a gift from a local Chicagoland lambic guru and he said on his last trip that JVR called this particular bottling vintage, and it was the standout of the evening. We had a new (vintage 14) Vignerrone vs. a 2012 bottling, and it was universal that the fresh was a bit of a let down.

All in all great beers with great people makes for an enjoyable Friday evening.

This is a tasting that I had with Jvrdz24 BusinessSloth and a few others outside of TB a few weeks ago.

A lot of highlights here...

Four Seasons set was awesome, so glad I got to experience that. Initially, my ranking was Herfst, Zomer, Lente, Winter, but afterwards and at this point I could honestly pick any of them as #1 depending on my mood. Herfst was really well balanced, Zomer was pretty intense and bright, Lente was similar to Zomer but more delicate and Winter was pretty similar to Herfst and got amazing as it opened up.

Vig is always a favorite of mine. 2014 bottle, was one of the funkiest bottles of lambic I've had.

A&T was perfect, probably the best bottle of gueuze I've ever had. Golden Blend 2014 was very very close to it though.

Le Sarrasin was also perfect, best saison I've had but not far off at all from Cellarman or some of the other big ones. Hell, even Oddwood b2 is close.

Imperial Orchard was delicious, favorite Bu so far. Good bottle of Hommage (haven't had one I've disliked yet though), Syrah was good but it didn't blow me away. I was really hoping for it to be closer to CdT. Nonna's #7 was also excellent, Biere de Norma was very gueuze like on the nose, Atrial b5 was very jammy with a ton of oak for me. I still prefer b4 though. Nocturn b3 bottle was just perfect and reminded me of how much I loved that beer when I first had it. Experimentalis w/ Meyer Lemons was great, tons of gin and lemon. The barrels gave it complexity that was missing from the yeast. I also really enjoyed August Schell's Cypress Blanc (not pictured). I thought it was complex and wonderfully delicate for a Berliner.

Let downs were Peachin' Camaro, Stone Bu (I'm sure it was great fresh but this bottle was too vinegary), and I can't remember if there was anything else...

Was an awesome night though, thanks guys!

Yeah that was one of my all-time favorite bottle shares.

Tell the truth- the fruits were all faded and it was basically an old bottle of Timmermans at this point. No one should bother holding on to any old fruited LPs and they should trade them to me for adjunct stouts and berliners. k thnx

While I probably wouldn't agree with the above statement, I would say don't hold on to them too long. We did a 2003 LPK and LPF at a tasting a few years back, and they were acetic messes at that point. The 07 I just cracked was drinking amazingly well, but it was the perfect time to open it up.

yeah, I kid. 06-08 are pretty much perfect right now. Just makes me laugh when people say the fresher vintages are better because FROOTZ

This just happened, with food pairings and musical accompaniment of course.
Mars is hella faded (but actually really pleasant right now) and apricot has completely overtaken Venus, but the others are drinking without too much variation at the moment.

The planets being out of order in this picture is bothering me way more than it probably should.
