patm1986 came over on Saturday night for cake, sausages and mosquito bites.
The growler in the back was mislabeled- pretty sure it was Harlan.

Tonight's tasting:

G4MhScJ.jpg

Highlights included Trillium's offerings, Moscatel DL, LiL and Imperial Hop Bu!

Someone has been hanging onto a Triple Sunshine this long? Part of me thinks thats criminal considering how awesome it was fresh, but obviously people can do with their beer what they wish. Regardless, I'd still be interested to know how it was.

This past Monday

Was the chick on the counter also part of the tasting?

Fun little tasting with Photekut and others (not on this site), thanks JR!

Highlights for me were Beat b6, Atrial, Nocturn (which was a surprise and on par with AR), and WWB Batch 60, which I swore was fruited. We'll have to do it again.

This is what I've been saying. Nocturn is a fantastic blackberry sour. I may rustle some jimmies, but I love it more than Atrial Rubicite. Atrial on cask blows Nocturn-in-a-bottle completely away though. If you ever make it down to Jester King for Atrial, definitely get it on cask! I'd imagine it's like having Fou Foune from a bottle, and then on cask. So juicy.

Have there not been multiple releases? My friend actually did an IP trade for it yesterday. It was really good, amazing that it is over 10% ABV (you'd never guess from the taste) - really nice and hoppy. Kind of what I expected - like a bigger version of Double Sunshine. I'll definitely want to have some more! If it's old, that would surprise me, as it tasted pretty fresh.

Only been released once, Memorial Day weekend. So yeah it's definitely not fresh. But in glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Crazy! I'm glad I didn't know that (in case it would affect my mindset). It definitely has lasted well!

Had a pretty decent share last night, nothing too big...

Highlights were VSB, BA Abraxas, CBS, GNVP, and Atrial Blend 1. Everything was fantastic though (aside from BA Cherry Stout which I didn't really care for).

Just finished a (very fun) blind IPA tasting with 10 beers. I was surprised and pleased that I managed to get all 8 correct that I had tried before, but flipped the 2 I hadn't tried (Jack's Abby Rye IPL and Coronado Islander IPA - hard to pick out-blind beers you haven't had...). Here are the 10 in order of my preference, picked blind:

1. Trillium Double Dry Hopped Congress Street (stood out, well above the rest)
2. Jack's Abby Hoponius Union
3. Night Shift Whirlpool
4. Bear Republic Racer 5
5. Ballast Point Sculpin
6. Night Shift Morph
7. Coronado Islander IPA
8. Jack's Abby Session Rye IPL
9. Founders Devil Dancer
10. Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA

Absolutely EPIC share yesterday, in an amazing setting (inside/outside rooftop party space in a posh lower Manhattan high-rise apt. building). Cheers to the old and new friends alike I got to hang out with yesterday! And huge thanks to pa1414 for hosting, and awesome times were had with farnold, Roze, nathanmiller, franch & ceight, caseyk, dar482, Wolverines66, and everyone else!

Day started off innocently enough...

2014-08-30155507.jpg

but honestly, this one took the cake. a 2007 Dark Lord, that we found in my garage about 2 months back. you can see my original writing on the wax...DL Day was 4/29/2007, I acquired the beer in trade on 5/25/2007...then managed to forget it was in my garage . Anyway, IT WAS ******* GOOD. I'M TALKING REAL GOOD (seriously, look on Untappd from yesterday; no one gave it less than 4/5). Like a glass of toasted coconut/marshmallow/milk chocolate soup. No soy sauce at all. Thank god I have another

At this point I missed a LOT of the beers being poured. I had to pick & choose my battles...

Last night's get together:

Also opened, but not pictured East End Flatitude 2011, Copper Kettle Mexican Chocolate Stout, Funky Buddha Apple Brandy Barrel Muy Bonita.

The highlights for me were the 2008 sticker Lou Pepe Kriek, Opuntia, El Cid, and Arthur.

The Apple Brandy Muy Bonita tasted good, but the bottle was a gusher and it smelled like ass. Serious farts in a bottle.

The Mexican Chocolate Stout was also a gusher, had the aroma of burnt plastic, and burned the throat when consumed. Everyone drain poured this one. I have to believe this was a bad bottle, and I will seek this one out to try again.

I got a bottle recently as an extra, I'll bring it this weekend.

beer of the night?

(All answers other than 'Le Sarrasin' will be deemed incorrect and disregarded}

Man... I'm particularly indecisive. Track 8, Funky Gold Mosaic, and Le Sarrasin were my top 3. At various points of the night, each one of these was my "beer of the night."

EDIT: I'm pretty decisive about my least fav though... that was definitely NS Cape Codder Weisse.
