Damn, looks like I left too early on Saturday night. I'm still having impure thoughts about that Keene Idea growler.

There was somehow a fair amount of Keene Idea left in the growler the following morning. It was still tasty :). A lot of those bottles are from Friday night actually. I don't think you missed too much, but I can't remember what point you left at. Le Saisonnier, Serendipity, Abner, CW BBS, and Norma were the closers.

I'm not sure if I left right after the BCBCS vertical or stayed for one or two bottles after that. Either way, thanks again for hosting.

Lots of mini tastings this week while I'm in California. Thought I'd post a few choice photos here.... you can check all of them out on Flickr if you want http://flickr.com/photos/adamjackson/

I'm trying to host little mini get togethers on the regular so friends can help me drink down my beer cellar. 2 buddies came over today to watch the Arizona/Weber St game and drink some beers. DB Huna blew us all away, and Beat 6 was a close second. After that, opinions were divided, but we had a lot of fun hanging out on a beautiful Friday.

Drink your beer, people, and share it with friends. I'm done with "collecting" beer

Had a great little tasting last night with two great guys JM03 and Dimos23

Grande ***** was the clear winner for all of us. Not to take anything from Db Huna but voodoo is amazing.

Atrial and dynamo were the winners here, think I'm the only one who preferred atrial over dynamo though. Upland had a weird off flavor like tanning oil or something.

2009 black magick in Elijah Craig barrels? Holding up well but bt was my preference.

And some drunken bottle choices.

I suck at taking tasting pictures. We had a tasting group meeting last Friday with a saison theme, started out with some Euro saisons and then went on to this:

Clara was my favorite, followed by Anna, though opinions varied around the table. We all agreed they were all high-class though.

Then the rest of the dead soldiers:

The best of the rest was Saison Man by Trinity and the IPAs we included for variety, Lawson's Double Sunshine and Focal Banger.

Thanks blue_bleeder, MordorMongo, claaark13, and MKtheGeneral for making this possible! Cheers!

Started with a HotD Fred tasting...
IMG_20140329_191316_zpspbhrmegw.jpg

Regular fred - meh
Bourbon fred - no carb, very sweet, overall pretty good
Fred ftw - great beer - complex notes with heavy vanilla and nice sweetness

After tasting the Freds, I guess I have to find a way to get an Adam FTW to complete may adam lneup.

Second lineup was a Bourbon Barrel Cherry Sour tasting.

IMG_20140329_210346_zpsdekkzgif.jpg

Best of the bunch was the Sang Noir. Nice progressive profile of cherries, barrel, and then sour. The Lee Noir was very well balanced, but didn't do much to stand out among the other two. I think the Blackberries in the Wanderer would have been lost on me if I hadn't had it side by side with other cherry beers.

Celebrated my birthday last night with sluggo and another friend.

Honestly, everything aside the Coffee Noir could be considered a highlight. Persica was great, no butter in this Blend #1 bottle. Dark Origins blew me away. Last beer we drank and it totally brought my palate to life. SO MUCH AWESOME in that RDO bottle (Thanks again mdillon86) . The Emptiness is Eternal was fantastic as well. The persimmon was fully present but not overly sour or tart. 2011 Schaerbeekse Kriek was a hell of a way to start it off!

I brought some bottles over to my brother-in-laws to share with him and some friends after a day of helping him with some garage construction. Its always interesting to share beers with folks who aren't into the beer geek scene, with no bias or awareness of hype and rarity. Among them the Gose was the consensus favorite, followed by Temptation. I was blown away by the Gose as well, especially since I tend to find Cascades sours super puckery and over-done. The Gose is super well balanced and drinkable. A excellent representation of the style. I also enjoyed Cerasus more than I would have expected, being far drier and less sweet than expected. Convivial and Norma were both great but I've had them before.

Over the weekend I went camping near Joshua Tree with some friends, rcubed, and we had a great time! The beers we shared Friday and Saturday were great! Not to mention the world class home-brew! Here a few notes...

And that was Saturday night... Not too mention the PBR with bocce ball ... and the growlers of homebrew!
What a fun weekend! Cheers!
NOTE: that's a 2005 DBA 3 liter.

Lee Noire doesn't have any fruit so maybe that is part of the reason it match the flavors of those other two.
