Opened a couple of nice ones this week. And if you're sober enough to remember to take photos, you're doing it wrong

I'd rather take a drunk picture in the kitchen/dining room than a sober picture of the garbage.

Weekend got off to a great start with some CD3.

Moved onto a random selection of bottles (perhaps you spot your homebrew?)

Batch 3 is much better than batch 2 was.

Some Resurgam and Huna.

CD2 is holding up.

CD5 has developed absolutely beautifully!

I declare this year's batch of BoT carbed and fit for beer geek consumption!

My favorite bourbon of the weekend. Beat the pants off PV23 side-by-side.

Autumn Saison paired well with a selection of oysters.

Ridonkulous tasting on Saturday night in New York City, which Bluecane and I were invited to at the last minute. I wish I had brought something better than the last remaining bottle of homebrew I had with me, but I'm planning to hit the guys up with some thank you beers in the near future. Huge thanks to Quackus, franch, EricTheRed, and all others there for inviting us and sharing a bunch of amazing beers, several of which I assumed I'd never get to try. Here are some highlights:

I have some good stuff I'm holding on to, but yeah, I'm trying to get closer to depletion. I'm tired of chasing bottles, and gonna focus on good locals instead.

I wish we had a bit easier time getting some BBA beers. IPAs are really getting good in TX, but getting good sours and BA Stouts/Porters is still a bit of a fight.

Drank these last night. 2009 yeti, old ruffian, hibernation and 2012 yeti.

The 2012 yeti was infected - one of the most infected beers I've ever tasted. 2009 yeti was slightly less sour but still a drain pour. 2009 BA hibernation was pretty good. If for some reason you still have one of these, you missed it's prime long ago. 2009 BA old ruffian was best in a disappointing group.

One of the 50n's is 2007, other new one.

Not pictured : several rare bourbons sampled, b1 Hi-fi, Upland Blackberry, Edith, Herfst, BB Afternoon Delight, Hanssens OG, Black Tuesday, and some others I am forgetting. Let's just say a lot was consumed. Srs.

I'm biased.

My best advice to everyone is avoid Tilquin at all costs. **** is horrible and cannot hold a candle to Cantillon, 3F, DeCam, Girardin, Hanssens, Cuvee Renee, etc. Disgusting.

Big mess of a picture but a great bottle share and brew day:



Growlers included HF Double Citra, Abner, and Everett; Tired Hands MortalGrade; Westbrook Mexican Cake (French-pressed with coffee); a pilot batch DIPA from NEBCO; Freehouse Green Door IPA; Conquest Sacred Heart with Chipotles; Westbrook Bourbon-Barrel Quad; and some others. Bottle highlights were Double Sunshine, Arthur, Brother Soigne, Pirate Bomb, Sucaba, and the surprise of the night, Blue Lobster Brewing Little Lobster on the Prairie.

This past weekend's HF tasting. It included: Arctic Saison, Brother Soigne B1, Vera Mae, Sankt Hans B1, Convivial Suarez, Everett, Madness and Civilization 1, Madness and Civilization 2, Damon, Double Barrel Damon, Phenomenology of Spirit, Birth of Tragedy, Fear and Trembling, Flora, Flora Satsuma, B1 Norma, B2 Norma and Art.

A few highlights:

Holding up nicely.

It's shocking how much better B1 Norma was than B2 Norma...
