Drove out to my buddies place, invited a few people and opened up some bottles.

Perfect evening.

Main idea was to open up a bunch of different hardywood beers.

These are all just pictures of empty beer bottles! Where are all the @beertraders?

Step 1: Save empties (over time)
Step 2: Picture with a bunch of them, say there was a tasting with some friends... from Canada
Step 3: Collect likes

Had a couple people over during my brewday yesterday to open some bottles

The Parabolas were '13 and '11, and the Abacus was '11. The tasting was supposed to be done after the Abacus, but I ended up chilling the Beat down when a couple people mentioned they hadn't tried it before. Personal highlights were the Abacus (drinking insanely smoothly right now), the Strawberry Rhubarb, and the Beatification (b5).

All into one batch? Any other yeast starters/packs? I'm just curious because some friends and I did something similar and I like to hear other people's ideas.

I also pitched Wyeast Trappist High Gravity and the Lambic blend. I pitch a clean ale yeast to insure that fermentation kicks off quickly, and given that the brett and other critters can eat the esters, I figure it'll be plenty funky/sour given enough time.

It was a good day.

Canis

Is that a Chardonneighbor of the Beast in the back?

Nice lineup!

Good eye sir, indeed it is. I had it sitting in the timeout corner because it had a good amount of diacetyl. I think between six of us we barely drank half the bottle.

All in all it was an excellent day. That '07 Lou Pepe Kriek is making me thinking my "drink fruited sours fresh or GTFO" stance.

Must have been batch 2 (looks like a batch 2 bottle). I really enjoyed batch 1, but we had it late in the night when we stated daring our host to open his rare bottles. That was fun...

Yeah, I think it was. I was excited to try it too, I'm a big fan of 668 and NEBCO in general.

Well, B1 was delicious. If you're a real fan, it's definitely worth seeking out. Be warned; people aren't giving them away. But after b2 has come out, I think it's gotten a little easier.

highlights? Looks like a pretty awesome lineup!
Batch 1 WWB was very good. I'd never had Utopias, so I enjoyed it a lot. I was surprised at how good Matt is and the '09 Dark Lord was drinking very nicely. Mamouche was not for me, I guess not being a cucumber/pickle fan takes this beer out. brystmar can add his thoughts.

WWB Batch 1 and Zomer stole the show IMO. Been about a year since I had either of them, and ******* is Zomer aging like a champ. Was already my fav of the 4, and it's only getting better. Jesus, I need to trade for about 16 bottles of it ASAP.

Also quite enjoyed Pirate Bomb, Bottleworks XIV, Woodicus, and the '08 Earthmonk. You know it's a good tasting when I leave Matt and Utopias off the list, both obv fantastic. An excellent send-off tasting for our buddy Seth.
