Last week, Zimm got married. We opened a few things, many courtesy kbhess. Congrats again, Matt!

Last night, five of us got together to open "a few" things. The growlers are of Four Quarters Little Umbrellas (pineapple Berliner) and Referend Jung Amarillo. The crowler was Angry Chair Strawberry Cream. Anna is from 2014. Petit Nectarine was probably my favorite of the bunch.

How was that rumskull? Infected?

From Friday night... The final bottle share at my buddy's place (aka The Church of Filthy Dubstep) before he moves back to upstate NY. Went a little nuts. 8 people, 34 beers (36 including doubles).

Highlights:
BT1
Roguie
BA Abraxas
2012 Vig
3 Matt's

Also in there are b1 (2014) 22oz. bottles of Bu Weisse & Petit Desay. We pressed the Desay with Italian plums from that tree in the background, and the Bu with about a lb of blackberries from the field. The Desay was good. The Bu was amazing.

This was a good one. With Sean9689 Cruize4Gueuze rfraga7 Beerlistman mlefevre

Highlights:

Vonck (first bottle on left with poor label) really good old gueuze. Lots of hay and mineral qualities with funk.

Boos 99 best beer of the night for me. Took over 4 years of hunting to track this beer down and it lived up to my preconceived hype. Strong raspberry smell immediately upon cork release. Still lots of carb and a great funky jam taste. One of the last three whale ticks I coveted with LH12 (soon) and B1 soleil (doubtful to ever happen)

A&J old gross flat beer. Drain pour

Florian: great bottle. As good as the one I had at Akkurat three years ago. Funky with lemon and grass. So crushable

Selectie C: Interesting. Was definitely not just relabeled geueze of the same year. Had a more gritty and thick mouth feel quality is the best way I can describe it.

Cantillon Framboise: great nose but sooo sour. Good but my pour was more than enough.

Goldackerl: Such a strange beer with the high ABV. Had it at Akkurat in the past and was cool to revisit

Blauw vs Roze: I always prefer Blauw but half the people preferred Roze

Veritas was 005 and still surprisingly very good. I last had this beer in 2013 and has not changed much. The color is less ruby red but I was shocked how funky yet balanced it still was. Not as sour as 004 has gotten.

KBBS B1 still kills it compared to B2. One of the best stouts I have ever had with VB assassin and Brandy Vanilla DL.

Great people and great times.

Cheers

Give me that Chardonnay and Menu anytime...

99 boos and 96 florian were the biggest surprises of the night. So effing good. Vonck was great but definitely old and musky. Goldackeral is a definite standout for its uniqueness but takes a second to warm up to but really liked it. Menu was great as well. Surprised Jean decided to release the 09 pinot over it as menu is was better.

JCN is always a huge highlight as well, so subtle but so well done.

Happy to have been a part of such a generous group of guys #blessed

I thought Pinot was way better than menu. Miles ahead in terms of balance and fruit character

Small share with a few friends yesterday:

B2 BA Vanilla Shake is still great. Vanilla has definitely faded (duh), but it's resulted in a more balanced beer. Wouldn't hang on to these much longer if you have any left, but still impressive at the moment. Was interesting to try next to FO 2017, which is anything but balanced.

Calvados Aurelian Lure: lovely. One of the best Jester Kings I've had in a long time.

FO 2017: Super sweet, crazy vanilla. If you like sweet, you probably like this. If not, then you don't.

Prairie Funky Galaxy: Nope. But interesting to try after a few years.

Mikkeller/Voodoo Flops on Deck: I like this a lot, but you gotta like sweet to like this one. Intense maple. Would go well in a bourbon barrel.

2010-2011 Tilquin: Happy I finally got around to opening this. So good. Funk and lemon in perfect harmony.

1962 Whitbread The Queen's Ale: Remarkably flavorless. Not good, but not offensive. Just not much of anything.

Le Saisonnier Batch 1: Better than I remember it being at release, but still holding onto a bit of that band-aidy character. Could still crush the whole bottle alone.

Boulder Dude's Bane B1: Easily the best Boulder beer I've ever had.

Indeed Rum King: Always a banger.

Like my last installment of the Official Tasting Pictures thread I could post all of the bottles we consumed last weekend at a fundraiser tasting for Team One Step (childhood cancer charity that sends children diagnosed with childhood cancer to camp for a week to connect with other kids and get their minds off the crappy hand they have been dealt), but instead I'll go with my favorite picture of the event which shows everyone enjoying great food, beer and company.

Thanks to everyone from TalkBeer and beyond who supported my sister running the Chicago Marathon and Team One Step including Bill rmalinowski4 imperialking pdurrrr fear025 drewba Dunt IronDave trickytunadicky AleWatcher oreo dvelcich DanK and others.

Lol, I am sure it had nothing to do with someone knocking half the bottles on the floor at the end of the night.
