I worked all night, got to the release at around 1030 (soonest I could), saw the line, and said nope. Went to a bakery, got a cookie (s/o wanted to) came back to see the line and it expanded about a quarter of the size.

Went in for pours instead. Sorry that happened, I feel for you.

The cookie was pretty good.

If you choose to stand in a line, for a beer, for 5 hours you deserve to get rained on.

It's not as simple as that. The holy mountain lines have never been that long. But when you've waited say 1-2 hours and you see some movement you think it's going to keep moving, then it doesn't...then you have to weigh if it's worth it or not to stay based on time already invested and how long you think it'll continue to take and you just have no idea...sadly it turned out to be a colossal waste of time.

So yeah, not black and white. Why would I show up to anything with the preconceived knowledge that it was going to take 5 hours? That's just stupid...and your comment is just thoughtless for assuming that

What type of cookie?

Oh man, I also saw the line and almost bailed but I had a bunch of friends that really wanted to try the beers so wanted to at least try to get bottles. I had no idea it would take even half the amount of time it did. I should have just had a cookie. Smart!

You should have gotten there earlier.

You aren't entitled to ****.

That didn't take long. Knew there'd be people like you with this opinion. Obviously you got bottles cuz you're not upset and good for you, but you don't need to be a dick about it

I didn't get any bottles to flip but I'm sure I'll get to try it at some point.

I got to try 2 oz of it, and honestly it's ******* delicious. One of the better BA BW I've had in recent history...or ever. Really, really good.

Also, I only get beer to share with friends and do the occasional trade (I haven't traded online in ages). I am not in this to "flip" beer

I'm sure the beer is amazing which is par for the course for Holy Mountain but you come to a public forum and **** all over them for not meeting your level of expectations in a super fluid environment like a bottle release and I'm here to tell you, once again, you are not entitled to anything.

You chose to stand in line in the rain for a bottle release. Calling the brewery out and their team is undermining and it's ********. I consider everyone that works there a friend and I get defensive. They all work hard and I'm sorry if things didn't go the way you wanted but honestly that's the nature of these limited releases these days.

Appreciate the feedback, but I think you're too biased to see past the friendship/personal relationships you have to even consider that they (as a business) might be doing something wrong. Calling out aside, to even consider telling your friends that they may be doing something wrong, or that they could be doing something better is difficult...and it's clear you're unwilling or unable to do that.

That said, my choosing to stand in line was not done with the knowledge that it would take THAT long, and still yield no results...which I've already addressed in a previous comment above.

And you keep reiterating I'm not "entitled" to anything. In this context, I think I definitely earned the right to BUY a bottle. Obviously I'm not entitled to a handout and that's not what I wanted. But I do think given the time we all spent (not just me), that we should have been able to buy a bottle...had they been actively aware of the line they could have adjusted the limits down to 2...and then down to 1 if needed. That way more people could have had some, rather than some people having more and then others getting none. I think if you remove your personal feelings and bias you should be able to at least agree with me there, no? C'mon man, put yourself in someone else's shoes...it's really easy to chastise someone online for something when you don't know them, and when you weren't there.

They set a limit and stuck with it. Sorry about your luck. Can't fault anyone for making a plan and sticking to it. You didnt earn any right to anything by standing in the rain for 5 hours. That was your decision, not theirs.

Why is this such a hard concept for people to grasp?

Ughhhhhhhhhhh. AGAIN...I didn't know it would be 5 hours. Why is THAT concept so hard to grasp...

This is pointless...nevermind. The release went swimmingly. So smooth. Line was Angry Chair 1000+ people in 1.5 hour smooth. No butthurtz. Everyone happy. It was joy.

This Saturday's release is going to be an absolute **** show.
It's not like this wasn't predicted.

Please stop whining, julian. A very small brewery released a very limited beer. You got there too late to acquire any. It happens. I'm sure there's still plenty of killer local options to go grab off a shelf or at a local bar. Consider yourself lucky and go have a beer.

Crying to the Internet public on a beer forum isn't going to fix anything or make anyone sympathize with you.

I think I definitely earned the right to BUY a bottle.
Apparently not. You got there too late. First come, first served. Why you think you're more deserving than all the people ahead of you in line is lost on me.

Listen, I'm sorry you expected something better than it was. Just because it was a shitshow does not mean you EARNED the right to buy anything. Just because your expectations were not met does not mean you get anything. You could have left at any time. You chose to stay. That's on you. Not them.

Put yourself in the shoes of someone who showed up 30 minutes earlier and do you still make these same posts?

I'm betting you don't. They are a young brewery and releases like this are a very new to the NW. I wish it was like the old days where you could roll in mid day grab some bottles and some pours and continue your Saturday. Those days are long gone though. Craft beer is booming and HM puts out beers that people want and are willing to wait in line for.

They are savy enough that I assume they will make adjustments in the future but at no point during this entire day did you "earn" the right to buy a bottle.

I'm sorry you got shut out Julian but blasting them is counterproductive in every way imaginable.

The main point of this was in hopes that they (holy mountain) see it, and recognize there was an issue in hopes that they'll do something about it for future releases. How will they know there was a problem, if nobody says anything?

Anyway, look I get you all think I'm a cry baby. It's just beer, I know...but I did spend a good portion of my day and it just feels wasted now. Yes, I did choose to stay, and it was a tough decision but I thought/hoped it would pay off...it didn't.

If I was 30mins earlier and got bottles would I still be complaining? Depends. If I knew at the time that people behind me didn't get any bottles and I got 3, I'd actually offer some to them because I'd feel bad and we'd been standing in line for hours together...and had talked for hours. I'd probably still post. If I received beers and left and had no knowledge of how other people behind me got ******, I wouldn't know and probably wouldn't post.

Anyway I'm done. Appreciate all the feedback. If anyone gets to try the HoMo beers released today, they're all amazing. Seriously incredible stuff. Cheers!

edit: and if anyone waited in line and struck out on the mango table or monkish collab I'd be happy to sit down and share with you sometime!

Take this nonsense to the First World Problems Thread.
