Haha yeah I'm well aware that a bad experience could have happened domestically as well. I'm still pretty bitter over it so maybe I'll change my mind in time but, as of now, that's not the case. Long story short, it took 4.5 months to get my beer and one of the bottles wasn't even correct after all that time.
#badtradercallout?

I was thinking about it but I am just tired of dealing with this person. The beer that was missing isn't something super rare, but it is something I wanted. I was sent an Oude Kriek when it should have been an A&G batch 2.

Part of the reason it took 4.5 months is because the box was "lost" in transit. I did get a tracking #, and the box did have some movement but then it went dark. However, when he asked his post office for a "return" months later (I waited a while since this was my first international trade and I know that the box can take time with customs and all that) they magically found it. He then got all pissed about having to pay to ship the box back to me, giving me a "final offer" for me to pay half of the new shipping cost AND half of the customs fees he had to pay in order for him to receive the box that I sent. I filled out the customs form as he asked so I wasn't expecting (nor was he expecting) to have to pay more but it turns out he did. He also didn't tell me up front that if he had to pay extra costs to receive his box, that I would be responsible for half. I guess I could have created a bad trader thread then, but I do suppose there's some gray area there. I suppose I could be partially blamed for assuming that if anything went wrong once the box was shipped, that the shipper needs to see that it makes it, whether it was my box lost or his. He clearly didn't think so.

I did explain that if it was my box that was lost, it would be my responsibility to make it good but he ignored that and still expected me to pay half, which I did because I was tired of waiting and again, I guess there's some gray area there. I just assumed that he would make it good, just like I would have. I thought all of that went without saying.

So, that scenario combined with the wrong beer being sent really upset me. He even blocked me after confronting him about the wrong beer saying that what he sent was "enough." Plus, communication sucked most of the time and I just felt that there was no sense of urgency to see that his box made it to me. It took a lot of work on my part to see that I got my box.

Just a horrible experience.

So the beers he originally sent are the ones that eventually made it to you? If so, and you agreed upon an A&G b2 (not an Oude Kriek) and doesn't offer to correct it, that alone is grounds for IDing him as a bad trader, nevermind the other details, IMO.

Ya know, people trade beer on Facebook, it's true! I know you find it incredulous but I am not doing you any favors by shielding you from this any longer.

I mean, I get doing that for local IP trades; I've set up a few of those through Facebook. But I can't imagine doing a big international trade that way. I'd want something with a proper accountability mechanism like TB, BA, or RB (for dealing with the five Europeans who still visit that website).

I'm more breaking Competicity s balls cause I <3 him

And if it's Ales Unlimited anniversary sale you can add a multiplier to the GFY and bend over for some more

Nah, not Ales Unlimited. Do they still do an anniversary sale? I know Betty will put out special bottles from time to time and I know she prioritizes regular customers/customers she likes over other customers.

Never thought I'd be excited to get a back being shipped from Modern Fitness but when MattyATC is the man behind the box, it's excellent. Matt hitting me with Creature Comforts RTJ beer and glass. On top of that he throws in CC Triangulation, 2 Athena Paradiso (Passion fruit and guava) and in the growler Juice Willis: Dry Hop with a Vengeance. I don't even care how that beer tastes, I love it just for the name. Thanks Matt! You'll be getting your box back soon.

Charlemagne lost a close friend hen his Border Collie passed. I shared some thoughts about missing Border Collies I have loved and lost and he insisted I receive some beer! Here's to the memory of your girl, Scott. Tonight, I drink to her.
Miss Luna the Border mix sends her best wishes. Tee Time was delicious- like an Arnold Palmer! Huge thanks for the gesture and the tasty beers. Also, thanks to 7clutch who threw in the French Toast, which I am very curious about. Appreciate it all!
