They probably save a million a year by using stickers. And another million or 2 by not using good cardboard cases and 4 pack holders.Their can supplier couldn’t keep up with how much they were cranking out. Some batches are half and half, so seems legit.
I’ve heard about 10 different conspiracy theories while in line though.

Yeah I was in line with a guy from Jersey and he was talking that it was probably 7 cents a can stickered versus 15 cents wrapped. Now I know why trillium has never gone to “proper” cansThey probably save a million a year by using stickers. And another million or 2 by not using good cardboard cases and 4 pack holders.

Well ****, I knew I shouldn’t have trusted someone from JerseyPrinted cans are cheaper than stickered cans and WAYYY cheaper than shrink wrapped sleeve cans. Trillium could probably go to printed cans with their 'core' lineup but with the amount of SKUs they put out each year and the volume for each, they can't meet minimum order quantities to have printed cans.
So ultimately, all of the stickered Treehouse cans that you're getting that are normally printed are costing them more money, not less.
