I definitely only got one milled sack. The sack of wheat I got just had a lot more chaff and broken kernels than I expected, which I mistook for flour/grits at first.

Jason came by my work and dropped the new sack of 2-row off. He said I could keep the milled sack too, so woohoo, free grain! On the phone he said he's comp me another bag of wheat, but I guess he forgot about that afterward, not that I'm complaining. One free sack is plenty.

Thanks again Chris for picking up my grains. That was fantastic.
And Cheers to Jason for such great service. CMC is an awesome company!

I just need to figure out now what to do with all this great stuff. Was thinking of a Pale Ale, but we'll see.

Does anyone have any experience brewing Belgian beer styles with CMC pilsner malt? I want to brew a tripel and was unsure if I should use the CMC pils or go with Belgian pils. Thanks.

I used CMC pils for a Dubbel, and I liked it. Then again, I am new to the belgians.

Just call it a Colorado Belgian, or something. There is a potentially cool name here involving monks and mountains, but I can't put my finger on it.

My CO TRIP has been in the fermentor 2 weeks tomorrow! Used 3787 High Grav Trappist yeast and it needed a blowoff...still fermenting......I will transfer to 2ndary and check gravity on Sat whilst watching the Colts win!

I used CMC malts to brew a belgian and I thought it turned out great. If you are trying to enter it into a competition you may not want to as the whole point of those is meeting style, but other wise it will still turn out awesome. The yeast is such a huge factor, the malt subtleties are present, but blown away by the yeast flavor IMHO. I'm sure others would dissagree. Whats the worst that happens? You get an awesome tasting "Colorado Belgian" like mentioned above.

Go for it. I bet you enjoy it.

Do you guys do the buy once a year? I just got a grain mill and dont want to pay $45/sack from BrewHut

Coy-

It's not once a year, it's just when we decide we have enough people to do another one. I would guess we may be ready by June? Maybe someone from the last buy has an extra sack?

I'm going to brew this tomorrow:
11 lbs CMC Pils
0.5 Dextrine
1 oz Styrian Goldings
1 oz Saaz
2 lbs sugar
Schelde Wyeast #3655-2 l starter

I've made the same beer w/ Belgian pils and placed 3rd in Biere de Rock comp. for Category 18D. I'm sure it'll turn out fine. Besides, I'm planning on giving it to my wedding party this year! :)

OK cool, I think I can hold out until June-ish though. Thanks for the info, I'll be watching for the next thread.

I am running low on 2 row, I might have 50 pounds left. Next bulk buy you all get into keep me in mind. Thanks!

Count me in for the next bulk buy. Just started all grain this month, looking forward to using colorado 2-row.

Thanks!

-Keith

I can't believe I missed the buy. That's what I get for not checking in for a couple months.
I'm in for sure next time.

Anyone have the malt analysis for the CMC pils? I've sent them an email, but figured I would cover my bases. Brew system has been down & out with my recent move over Christmas, so I'm itching to fire things back up again.

How soon can we get the buy started or at least get a list going for those intrested? I am running very low and I will be out early to Mid April. June is just to far out lol!

1000 lbs is where the big price break comes. It goes from $50 per sac to $30 per sac plus transportation costs.

Why don't you guys go ahead and start.

I'm rather busy and riverfrontbrewer is no longer on the forum. I can get in touch with him to see if he wants to go in on the buy.

One of you will have to step up to organize the buy.
