College football is an inferior product played by a group from which 99.5% of them could never make it a week in the NFL.

Ratings would suggest otherwise, both in number of viewers and trends. College football continues to grow in popularity why the NFL ratings are in a nosedive.

Alabama didn't beat anyone and didn't even play for their conference title. Their best wins are Mississipi State and Fresno State.

Ohio State at least beat some top 10 teams and won their conference.

If the committee isn't going to reward conference titles, that's just dumb.

FWIW, USC has a better SOS and more Top 40 wins than either Alabama or Ohio State - if we're solely looking at best resumes
