It was the third of September
A day I'll always remember
Cause that was the day
That the commissioner died

Never got a chance to depose him
Never heard nuttin but bad things about him
Cape, I am depending on you
To tell me the truth.

Cape just hung his head and said...

Roger was a freakin' dope
Tried to go after Tom,
Never had no hope
And when he got fired,
All of New England up and danced.

This trial is just like the super bowl. Tom Brady gets a win, not because he was right or better. He wasn't cleared of wrong doing with this decision. He instead got a win by default in both cases. Be it Wilson's bad throw.. or the NFL being dumb enough to also make a bad call in not cooperating with turning over information to the defense. Either way.. still cheated, and squeaked by.

Lot of scared teams out there tonight...

He wasn't cleared of wrongdoing because that's not what an appeal court does, at least in this type of case... As several sources previously linked to in this thread have pointed out, an appellate court overseeing a labor appeal generally cannot make findings regarding the "facts" of the case, and unless the stated facts are Hoppy-levels of insane (I read one example of "unless the facts state that grass is purple") the court has to accept those findings as fact.

All the appellate court has authority to preside over are the policies and procedures as applied to the case being appealed. Had he the authority to preside over the stated facts of the case, my guess is that this decision could have gotten REALLY interesting. :mug:

As much as I hate it.. I don't disagree with the judges findings.. I think it should have gone more toward a lesser suspension as opposed to completely gone, but.. there is the simple facts that Goodell and the NFL chose to not cooperate.. which is exactly what part of their thing against Brady was. It was a stupid call that cost them the case.

This type of tampering of balls is rampant in the league. It was the keystone cops when they were all excited to catch the Pats. They couldn't perform a simple sting operation and admit their failure to record the air pressure correctly. The sad thing is the head clown gets paid $40m/yr to run his circus. Sadly this makes everyone look bad and kill the business. Including the other owners pig piling on a team they loose too without taking into consideration what is right/wrong or fair. Hopefully, they'll have new procedures to test and prepare the balls.

You know what I'd like to see the media latch onto is when they caught the guy who was stealing the charity balls. So, these balls that people pay large sums of money at auctions aren't real??????? Why isn't anyone digging into that fraud? That would result in jail time.

Legally he didn't have that choice. Either uphold the ruling or vacate it. If Goodell wasn't such a moron he would have had an independent arbiter hear the appeal. That person would have had the ability to give him a lesser suspension.

... like I keep saying... it had nothing go do with Brady's suspension and there was no way they were going to go to another arbitrator. They wanted a win in court in order to set precedent and lock in the Commish's power over discipline. With that as the real purpose behind this bullshti situation, they kept his suspension at four games to practically guarantee that they would go to court.

Roger and his lawyers are just raging jackoffs that thet effed the whole thing up along the way.

I always like reading these things and finding out how people got their job. Rog broke into the NFL office as an intern with a brief stint in the Jets organization and return to the front office within a year. He parlayed that into becoming the Commissioner 30 years down the road. He got the intern job due to a letter writing campaign for the position. And oh yea his dad was a senator from NY.

Hey Cape, did you read this one yet?

Fun week to be Goodell...

Great article.... mountain of stuff the haters are unaware of or refuse to admit.

"But he destroyed his phone!!! GUILTY!!!!"

It's all bullshti spin from the league in an attempt to do exactly what I have been saying... grab more authority over the CBA.

They are the judge, jury and executioner in their own hearings. They have ultimate power. They're not trying to grab more authority. They just have no clue how to use it. They can't even follow the rules they created. Who couldn't look at the facts and evidence in the Colt's game and as Commisioner throw it out and say clean up your investigative process. Otherwise, We'll look like jackholes. The problem is the majority of owners are just as bad and ran to a witch hunt. There were owners calling for the banishment of brady/belichick/kraft for life before the SuperBowl. Before they even knew what the facts were. Then again. Why change the process when you're making $40M a year and you can hire your lawyer friends to pretend they're Matlock?

The funny thing is Kraft is the one that won these conditions in the last arbitration when things were deadlocked. Goodell was panty waste.
