Know what drives me crazy? going to sites like freakin' SI.com and ESPN and having to freakin' NAVIGATE to Pats stuff. Given how awesome the Pats are they should have a dedicated navigation button...

within the top banner, they should have something like "MLB, Pats, NFL, NBA, NHL, blah blah blah"

San Diego doesn't care if he doesn't get traded. They are being stubborn and trying to make a point to anyone else that wants to hold out in the future. I don't see anyone trading for him unless san diego is will to drasticly lower their demands. I don't even see a team giving up a 2nd round pick as of now just because of the additional suspension that he is facing if he does get traded.

I don't believe any team is stupid enough to turn down a good draft pick just to make a point. That's posturing, plain and simple.

The additional suspension (what is it, six games?) is an issue, you'd only make a trade with an eye on 2011 and with a long-term contract already agreed upon. Pats are always thinking about 2011, though. If there's any team where a Jackson trade makes sense, isn't it New England?

yuck... I actually agree with all of this... I feel dirty.

I dunno... I think the Chargers are perfectly happy just standing there holding up a middle finger to Jackson. The Chargers aren't exactly hurting right now scoring points or winning games. And the Chargers will get SOMETHING for him no matter what so, in the mean time, there is no fire chasing them and they can afford to make a statement by basically telling Jackson to go fist himself and demanding a trade no other team is going to make with them.

Don't get me wrong... I WANT the Pats to get someone and off-issies aside, Jackson would be sweet... I just don't see it happening.

I don't know if it is 6 additional or 3 in addition to the 3 he had to start the season.

I don't think the clock has started, so to speak, since he's been holding out. Trade for him now, I'm pretty sure you'd be getting less than half a season, plus the playoffs.

That would be a trade for 2011, anyway.

Is he unrestricted at the end of the season? I'm so confused with these CBA changes... someone MIGHT be a restricted free agent, or they might be unrestricted... blah.

I also think it is ridiculous that the third Monday in April is ONLY a holiday in Massachusetts and Maine... it should obviously be a freakin' national holiday.

I just looked and Jackson's suspension is an additional 3 games when if/when he gets traded. I wonder if that will carry into next season if nothing happens this year.

I am pretty sure he is unrestricted.

It depends on what happens the rest of this year. If he plays in the final six games then he accrues a year of service and will be a free agent under the current rules. If he doesn't play in at least the final six games then he is still a RFA next year.

Patriots are deep in discussions to acquire a west coast receiver!!!!!!!

Deion Friggin' Branch.

Any Seattle fans around? Can Branch still run? Not going to bitch if a deal happens, but better not give up much more than a fifth round pick.

ok... wow.. that's not a direction I was expecting things to go.

Ehhh... there's a thread on a wooden conical I'm going to go check out for a while. i'll let you all be by yourselves for a while.

Back on topic.

Ravens suck.
**** the JETS.
Chiefs are wanna-bes.
San Diego's a bunch of ******* who'll never win ****.
**** Brett Favre.

Really, Deion Branch?

Yeah, we heard you liked the wood.

Ok... I have officially talked myself into drinking the KoolAid and I LOVE the Moss trade. There. I did it. WTF, I'm a season ticket holder and I'm not going to be passing in my tix anytime soon so I gotta get on board with this.

Randy Moss' stats for 2010 so far: 9 for 139 and 3 Tds.

Take away the one INSANE one-handed catch he made against a hammy-pulled Revis and he's 8 for 105 and 2 TDs.

9 for 139 and 3 Tds ranks him 77th in yards and 115th in catches.

"BUT HE STRETCHES THE FIELD FOR WELKER!"

Really? Welker is 35th in the NFL with 217. How much "stretching" is he really doing?

Don't get me wrong, the guy is an absolute 1st ballot hall of famer. He has done SICK things on the football field but I think it was a situation where he is making a TON of money this year ($9MM+) and is going to want even more when the season is over and right now... he's 77th in yards and 115th in catches.

Maybe he's lost a step? Maybe he just wasn't trying in NE any more? I dunno... but... $9MM+ for 9 for 139 and 3 TD's doesn't sound good to me.

Maybe he finds the magic in Minny and if he does, good for him, but he didn't seem to have it this year in NE so far with the exception of that one catch.

Reggie Wayne leads the NFL with 33 for 456. THOSE are monster WR numbers. REGGIE WAYNE "stretches the field".

I have finally given up on the Packers Super dreams for the year... too bad.

Injury list that seals the deal (in order of importance):

1. Nick Barnett (middle Linebacker) already a thin position due to minor injuries, he is out for the year and the drop off is big.
2. Morgan Burnett (Strong Safety) rookie off to a good start. We don't get Atari Bigby back for another two weeks and he has never stayed healthy through a full NFL season. Behind him is the dung heap, maybe I should try out.
3. The entire defensive line I think 1 or 2 might be more or less healthy, the rest are hurt or scraps picked up to try and field a team...
4. Ryan Grant (Running back). No human would take the running game seriously with what we have in the backfield. No pass attack is good enough with no threat of the run.
5. Old Man River and his side-kick Doc (Right and Left O-Tackle) Both injured and old, at least the young dudes behind them will be good... someday.

So basically, I legitimately thought the Pack was a Super Bowl contender this year. After the amount of pounding taken so far, I don't see it happening. Here is Coach Justin's recipe for making something out of the slim chance we have left.

1. Recognize that John Kuhn is a running back sent forward in time from the 40's. Change running scheme to a direct block system (we zone block now for our running game) and allow him to punish the defense head up. This way, we can grind them into the 4th quarter where we should be able to pound out some control. The other side effect of a pounding style run game is that it will allow for some good play action waggles and other pass attacks.
2. Go to church A LOT and pray to God that Al Harris and Atari Bigby can come back strong enough to finish the season in good fashion.
3. Spike Kevin Greene's KoolAid with cocaine so he can bring his energy level to unforeseen craziness and get some good action out of that motley crew of linebackers he has to deal with.

So there you have it. We are screwed, unless we start getting lucky somehow...

What does your team need?

Losing Moss still hurts us. Stretching the field is legit, especially since most of the receivers we have (Welker, Edelman, the tight ends) are guys that work best underneath. Moss still commands a double-team. The difference is, a double-team now takes away Moss; two years ago, a double-team (or triple-team) was irrelevant, he caught the ball anyway.

No clue why the Pack didn't pony up for Marshawn Lynch. He's a legit #1 back, he's a knucklehead but he runs hard and gets tough yards. Seattle didn't give up much - what, a fourth rounder? - for him. Exactly what the Pack needed.

Yeah, our GM is awesome at picking talent but a complete waste of space for filling needs and picking up free agents/trading. I highly doubt we will get anyone worth a damn at any of the spots we need them. I just don't have any confidence he will do anything.

Stretching the field is legit
Bah, stretching the field is coaching mumbo jumbo. Football coaches like to think of their game as rocket science (believe me, I've dealt with enough of them) but it ain't. You run crisp, precise routes and execute blocks and you have passing lanes.

One only needs the threat of throwing downfield, which could be as simple as throwing a long one out of bounds near a receiver.

Moss sucks... Pats are awesome.

You're just giving up on the Pack's super bowl chances NOW??? That Patriots play in the NFL. The Pack didn't have a realistic chance simply because of being in the same league as the Pats.

Meh. our record is 4-4 all time and we beat your ass in the Super Bowl the one time we met post season. I was more scared of the Lions.

I think the Packers will be better than the Pats.

We'll see how much it impacts Welker, having Tate single-covered on the outside versus having a corner and a deep safety thirty yards deep on Moss. Tate's the "X" factor (along with Hernandez), they'll pack the middle of the field to keep Welker from making any yards after the catch and hope that they can handle Tate one-on-one.

EDIT: And I know I'm failing at the whole "smack talking" thing, but to say that losing Moss isn't going to hurt Welker and the other receivers... well, I'd at least like SOME logic to prevail in this conversation.

You should really wait at least a day before starting your smack talk all over again. What's changed in the three hours since you posted:
