I think you mean, "just callin it like I am imagining it"..... and... if that's something you're putting some thought into... ehhh... that's kinda creepy dude.

Nope. Compensatory picks are basically created out of thin air, you don't give up picks when you sign free agents (at least under the current CBA; it could have been different previously).

With all the changes coming, it could well be that compensatory picks go away in the near future, anyway. In a case like this, it would have been an incentive for the Pats to let Moss walk at the end of the year, so it's not something the players' union is likely in favor of.

With all these picks the Pats are accumulating... sure be nice to see them package them up and get into the top 5 for a change. Get ourselves an IMPACT player, a new Richard Seymour. Wondering if they might actually move up in the draft, if a rookie-scale is imposed.

lol, married, two kids.....yeah i'm probably gay.

good thing you don't listen to WI radio. Steve Czaban had this to say about the Moss trade:

"The patriots are playing chess while the rest of the league is playing checkers. They aren't mad at him, they were just done with him"

You'll have a top five pick from Oakland, well at least top 10.

The rookie scale would be absolutely necessary before the Pats moved up. No way they sink a big chunk of cash into a rook'... that's why they constantly freakin' trade down every year.

Thing is, I'm convinced they could make a run this year, maybe they aren't a title contender but I could certainly see them making the AFC Championship game if they keep progressing as they have.
Interesting. I don't see that happening. As nice as Monday's win was, it was built on Miami's special teams idiocy and Henne's being average, at best. Chung had open lanes on both kick blocks, which is a Miami scheme thing that NE took advantage of (not coincidentally, Miami's specials coach was fired Tuesday). Chung's INT return was a bad route by Marshall, nothing that Chung did especially well. And the Pats had no pressure on Henne at all. Granted, the Dolphins' OL is pretty good but still.

I like the Moss trade. It looked to me like he had checked out mentally and gone into pouty face mode. Let the young, hungry guys get a shot.

Interesting. I don't see that happening.

I agree with you generally but the only reason why I was optimistic was that the offense was going to put up monster points... I was convinced of that. Would they have down games? Sure but all in all I think the offense was "deep playoff quality".

On D... they're super young and if there is one coach that could whip a young D into shape as the season went on... I think it is Belichick.

Was I picking them for the Super Bowl? nah... not really but I wouldn't be SHOCKED if, as the season went on, they got better and better.

I am still on the fence on the Moss trade only because I haven't seen them without Moss yet.

Not really.... he didn't have a catch but there is a lot of truth to the whole argument around him pulling multiple defenders to his routes. He clears a lot of way for the other receivers whether he catches the ball or not.

That is the huge problem with a "disgruntled Randy Moss" is he goes through the motions on routes when he isn't getting the ball and if he does that, the CBs and Safeties can ignore him and he's no where near as effective.

The trade is surprising because we hadn't really seen pouty-Randy this year. Didn't hear anyone suggesting he was dogging it on Monday night. Seemed to be into the game, was cheering his teammates on. Didn't complain (at least publicly) about only getting one look all game long.

Thinking that they absolutely love Hernandez, and he's going to be split out wide a lot. How do you cover him? Safeties are too slow, and most cornerbacks are too small. He's proving to be one helluva weapon, and maybe they figured that "bad Randy" was inevitably going to show if there were more games where he only got a handful of looks.

Ugh, Favre and Moss. Just what Brent wanted when at GB. Whatever. Randy can do this on Oct 24th again and the 31st @ Pats fans.

Randy Moss = Lawyer Malloy.

Think back, right prior to the 2004 season (IIRC). Lawyer Malloy cut at the very end of camp. Huge surprise.

Malloy wasn't as good as he had been in previous years, but he could still play at a high level (he was still one of our best defensive backs). Same as Moss (Moss still being one of the best in the league).

Malloy was a little overpaid, can't remember the specifics but it wasn't egregious.

Malloy was getting older, but ****... it's been six years and he's still playing.

So, why'd Malloy get cut? To send a very deliberate message.

"No one's job is same. No one."

Malloy was the sacrificial lamb. I remember Tom Jackson screaming that "THE PATRIOTS HATE THEIR HEAD COACH!," but this was all prior to one of the Super Bowl wins. Got killed against Buffalo, but wasn't this the year we went 14-2 overall?

What's the message today?

"NOBODY IS ABOVE THE TEAM!"

If Moss really was bitching about touches after that win - after that win, one of the most important wins the team has had in quite some time - if he's bitching after that, he needed to go. Too many very young, very impressionable players.

You can't bitch, even in private, even without saying anything to the media, after that win.

Did you see the smile on BB's face after the final gun? If Randy came up to him after that to complain about not getting thrown to, I'm surprised he just got traded, I'm surprised BB didn't make a couple of phone calls to some of him buddies from his New Jersey days.....

Well, this explains it...

Receiver Randy Moss and New England Patriots quarterbacks coach Bill O'Brien were involved in a heated exchange at halftime of the team's victory Monday over the Miami Dolphins, according to player sources.

The locker-room exchange, described as an "outburst" by one player, came two days before the Patriots traded Moss to the Minnesota Vikings for a 2011 third-round draft choice, and could have contributed to the team's decision to make the deal.

The Patriots trailed 7-6 at halftime of the game, and Moss had just one pass thrown in his direction up to that point. He finished without a reception and wasn't thrown to in the second half.

On Wednesday, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said in a statement that he has had discussions during the "past several months" with Moss and his representatives about Moss' "place on our team and his future in football."

Belichick added that "many things were taken into consideration before making the trade."

Moss was in the final year of his contract and did not expect to return to New England in 2011.

Player sources said the halftime exchange was not the first time they had felt friction between Moss and O'Brien, who calls the offensive plays.

After Monday's win, when asked by the Boston Herald about being held without a reception, Moss said, "It's called a game plan."

I love it, revis is still talking **** on Moss even though he got burned a couple weeks ago.

I don't know, I'd hardly call what he said "talking ****." All he did was say that Moss takes plays off. I think even Randy Moss would admit that he takes plays off. There are dozens of wide receivers in the league who take plays off. It's hardly a shot at Moss and is going to get blown up by the media.

Pats gotta still be odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl at this point... even without Moss. How could they not be? Who would be a bigger favorite besides no one?

Yeah... But they suck. The Patriots-West are going to be good. How couldn't they be with so many Patriots? But as much as they TRY to be the Patriots, they can't BE the Patriots and therefore, they suck.

At least the Chiefs are the "Pats-West" team that picks up decent former Patriots. The Broncos, though... Mauroney, Gaffney, Daniel Graham.... Russ Hochstein... maybe after last week, I wouldn't mind having Lonnie Paxton back, but they're ****ing paying a LONG SNAPPER $1.6M per.

EDIT: Huh, looks like the only two former Pats on the Chiefs roster (at least of any consequence) are Cassell and Vrabel. Thought they'd picked up a few other guys.

Another thought:

What's San Diego looking to get now for Vincent Jackson? He's not going to play much, if any, ball for them ever again, and he'll walk at the end of the season. I know the Vikings failed to acquire VJ... but maybe? He's got what, a four- or five-game suspension (maybe six, it's confusing) still to serve, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them take a chance and make another deal. Seems like the asking price can't be more than a second- or third-rounder at this point.

Swap out Moss for Vincent Jackson (and then giving him a long-term contract)... ****, I'd do that deal!

Wondering, too, since now there's no Moss extension overhanging, whether they might buck up and get a deal done with Mankins.

Who are the Chiefs' GM, Offensive Coordinator and Defensive Coordinator?

Oh, I know. I was just surprised that more ex-Pats hadn't made their way onto the roster... especially given how McDaniels can't seem to get enough of them.

Trade deadline's in what, ten days? We'll see. Jackson's a free agent after this season, right? We'll see how stuck they are on a #2 and #3 as the deadline nears.

I'd give up a #2 for him, and BB's been willing in the past to shed draft picks for NFL-proven wideouts. What'd he give up for Welker, I know there was a #2 but seems like there might have also been a lower pick as well.

Jackson needs to get paid - but are you more apt to shell out the $$ for the 27-year old, just-hitting-his-prime guy, or the guy that's 33, not as good as he was two seasons ago, but still wants to be one of the highest paid wideouts in the league?

You KNOW that BB's thinking about it. Biggest question in my mind is the severity of VJ's off-field stuff.

Oh, and Monday night's game... that really IS one where I'd like to see a 0-0 tie and multiple compound fractures. Can't root for the JETS, but if Moss gets shut down again... and Favre throws some more bad picks... changes more runs to passes at the line of scrimmage... and Minny loses AGAIN.... boy, won't it be fun to see that team keep imploding?

San Diego doesn't care if he doesn't get traded. They are being stubborn and trying to make a point to anyone else that wants to hold out in the future. I don't see anyone trading for him unless san diego is will to drasticly lower their demands. I don't even see a team giving up a 2nd round pick as of now just because of the additional suspension that he is facing if he does get traded.
