Whether Schwartz screwed up or not, that is a ridiculous rule. Horrible call and an even worse rule. The "punishment" on that rule is basically, intentionally disregarding whether or not the initial call was correct.

The rule basically says, "oh, you are going to question our call that quick, well screw you then, it stands regardless!"

Horrible.

Just saw that play everyone was bitchin' about. Not a blown call since the refs got it right according to the rule book, but it's a really STOOPID rule in the first place. Just kind of seems to be in place to hose someone somewhere along the line.

On the other hand, the Lions shouldn't have stopped playing until they hear a whistle. If they'd just nailed Forsett when he kept going it wouldn't have been an issue.

But they tell the refs to hold off on blowing the whistle, assuming that replay can fix it. This makes it all the more appalling.

All that being said, I think kicking the field goal on 3rd down in OT was unforgivable. Has that stratagem ever paid off? Fumbled snap, fall on it, make the longer FG on 4th.

I've never seen it happen. And then the field goal hits the upright. Could have used another yard.
