Toss out the ten minutes before and after half time and that was a solid game by the Pats. Defense did a good job of disguising the rush and sticking tackles.
On to Miami, which is never an easy trip...

About effing time Mccarthy got canned. Next year, pack goes 14-2 and wins the NFL championship. Guaranteed.

Both Notre Dame and Oklahoma will get destroyed.
I wouldn't go that far. I'm not saying that it isn't possible. Just i doubt it will be a 4 TD game for Bama or Clemson. Neither Oklahoma or Notre Dame are going to just bend over for the other team.

Shoot, I was hoping McCarthy would stick around so they would keep being awful and wasting their top picks on sub-par defensive players.

So that was a weirdly entertaining game with a weird ending. Was never certain which side I was rooting for - sticking Pittsburg with another loss gives the Pats a bit of a cushion on one hand, but having the Bolts get to 9 wins isn't great. Decided as I hate Rivers as the whiney beyotch he is I'd root for Pittsburg. Fail.

Anyway...the Pack will be back. There's too much - of pretty much everything - invested in "The Packers" up there in TundraLand for them not to get their act together again.

But, with a likely wholesale coaching change and all the potential ups/downs of that, plus the typical yearly contract stuff and roster churn, it'll be a challenge to be truly competitive next year...

So weak that they fired McCarthy instead of cutting that fraud Rodgers. Although, given the ridiculous contract Rodgers just absolutely stole from the Pack, I guess they didn’t have a choice.

Saw, more than once lately, analysts breaking down how Rodgers constantly blows up plays that were called trying to be a hero. ... and then when it’s a busted play, it’s the “o-lines fault” or the “coaches fault”. Pffft. Fraud.

When does he ever talk to a coach? Whenever they fail to get a first down he just heads to the bench by himself. No input from the sidelines to go over and criticize. The good thing is he's now unencumbered and can really just start hucking around the ball.

Philbin will hopefully add a lot of excitement and fire under him.

I hope they Livestream GB's stock holders meeting.

Honestly, I had no idea he was still suiting up for an NFL team.

[Huge segue]
Consider Josh Gordon, and his long run of tribulations that occurred while playing for the Browns.
It'd be fair to say he never reached his potential there. It'd also be fair to say he pretty much tuned out.

Patriots adopt him as a "project", give him time to heal up and begin to learn the system.
Now the guy is a legit threat and hella fun to watch.
And he gives humble pressers, which is the Patriot Way.

I could see how playing for a no-chance-from-opening-day team could bring someone so down.
And everyone loves to play for a winner...

It’s too bad Rodgers is so old... Brady isn’t getting any younger and the Pats coulda brought Rodger in as the same kinda situation as Gordon... a guy who is underperforming and is even a bit of a cancer to his team... but under the Patriots tutelage... could blossom into a good player.

He’s way too old to even think about that though. On the bright side, at least the Packer’s can get out from under his contract and start fresh soon.
