In the process of brewing a Festa Brew Double Oatmeal stout, and unfortunately, I think its become infected. Before I toss it, I figured i'd post a pic on here on the off chance that this looks normal.

Yep. I'd say you got something there. Taste it first, if it's decent enough maybe you could bottle and drink before it goes bad.

It looks like candida (wild yeast, same in SWMBO's vag) -- I have two batches with the same infection.

Pull a taste. If it's not sour/funky/off then you can probably save it by bottling/kegging immediately.

Or you can just dump it. Your call.

i have never been turned off of an infected beer.

until now.

to be clear - if you bottle, let it carb then ideally store in the fridge.

another alternative is if it is tasking OK then let it ride out until the gravity is stable (assumes you don't need the bucket for the next few months)

I've done 200+ gallons and I've never had an infection until now. And SWMBO had an infection last week while I was racking them. Coincidence? I think not :cross:

it tasted alright, but it looks pretty gross. What is the logic behind bottling it right away? Will that kill the infection eventually? Im tempted just to buy a new kit and start again.

Bottling it, letting it carbonate, and then keeping it cold will bring the yeasties to a near halt.

no clue. all this yeast infection imagery has turned me off of this batch, its being dumped. I'll try again some other time

yeah i'd say a couple hot oxi clean soaks for that bucket and all your equipment is in order too
