Newbie here and I currently have 2 batches fermenting. Wife said she wants to do a batch of oatmeal. I haven't even had an oatmeal beer. What is some good recipes and what does an oatmeal brew taste like? I know it depends on flavors used but in general what style is it most like?

Stout, as far as I know. Can't think of another beer with oatmeal offhand, although oats are used in some other styles because the oil content tends to make beer really smooth.

You probably want an oatmeal stout. Some Belgian Wits have oatmeal. When I first started brewing I would always try to come up with wacky/stupid recipes. For some reason I thought an oatmeal ipa would be interesting. Never did make it, but I still want to. Seems like oatmeal would fit well in a lot of English styles.
