Good morning all, it's a cloudy day here in TO and the girlfriend won't be home til late so: time to brew!
I will be getting started on my second ever all-grain batch and am hoping to do a nutbrown.
I wanted to go off of this recipe:
8 lbs. American 2-row info
1 lbs. Crystal Malt 60°L
8 oz. American Victory
4 oz. American Chocolate Malt
1 lbs. Oats Flaked
1 oz. Fuggle (Pellets, 4.75 %AA) boiled 60 min.
1 oz. East Kent Goldings (Pellets, 5.00 %AA) boiled 15 min.
But I have no Victory or Chocolate. I have an lb of roasted barley, and 2lb of Caramunich i (based on the availability of product around here), and I wondered about changing the recipe like so:
9lbs. Marris Otter
1lbs Crystal Malt 60L
1lb caramunich I
2oz Roasted Barley
1 lb of Oats Flaked
As I'm not sure about Victory malt, I didn't know how this would work out. I think my version would obviously be a bit darker (fine by me) but what about flavours here? Is this too rich? Too many dark/caramelly flavours competing?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
